Voorhlea Return Returning from an automobile tour of the United States on which they traveled nearly 10,000 miles, Mr. and Mrs. Earle B. Voorhles and son John were in Orante Pass today after an absence of two months. They left here on September 13. Grants Pass Dally Courier. Bicycles Stolen Re porta filed with the city police yesterday, concerning stolen bicycles, were made by Elton Tolle of Stewart avenue, Bud Thler olf of 15 Geneva and Dorothy Gill of 133 Cottage street. The two latter were stolen from the Junior high school. ' Taken to Court C. B. Roberts, who waa yesterday taken Into city court on charges of being drunk, waa ar rested again last night on a similar charge. Judge A. D. R. post, was a participant In the Armistice day parade Satur day, it was reported today. Mr. Ap plegate. who is 90 years old, makes his home at Tenth and King streets here. Allen Here O. M. Allen, telephone engineer for the foreat service, with offices In Portland. Is a visitor at the Rogue River national foreat offices today, conferring with forestry offic ials on some telephone construction work to be carried out here this win ter. Crosby Arrested V. O. Crosby of Medford waa arreated on East Main street Saturday morning at 0:30 i o'clock, driving hla Auburn through Ashland, loaded with 30 gallons of alcohol. Crosby claimed to be taking the alcohol to Sacramento from Med ford. He waa held In Jail until 8 o'clock when he gave a cash bond of 200 for appesjanoe in court Mon day. Ashland Dally Tidings. . Ouests of Mrs. Yeoman Mr. and Mrs. E. V. Herbert of The Dalles. Ore., are In Medford. the gueats of Mr. Herbert's sister, Mrs. Effle Her bert Yeoman. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert, whose wedding was on event of Fri day in The Dalles, arrived in Med ford Monday evening. Mra. Herbert will be remembered here as Miss Hildegarde Lemke. having visited here on previous occasions, as did Mr. Herbert. In Hospital Mrs. William Burke of Trail Is a patient at the Sacred Heart hospital, where she underwent a ma jor operation today. Tollefson Home Merland Tollefson. who attended football festivities In Portland over the week-end, returned to Medford today on the Oregonlan. Mrs. Bunn Home Mrs. H. E. Bunn. who recently underwent a major op eration at the Sacred Heart hospital, returned to her home at 1129 West Ninth street today. O'Briens Return Mr. and Mra. James O'Brien have returned to Med ford from Tacoma, where they have been vacationing for the past several daya. V North of District A. fl. Rosenbaum. district freight and passenger agent left this morning on the Shasta for the Roseburg section on an inspection tour of the northern portion of his district. McColloms Leaving Mr. and Mrs. I. N. McCollom are leaving tomorrow for Rltzvllle, Wash., where they plan to spend the winter with their daugh ter. En route they will visit Mr. and Mrs. David Griffiths in Eugene, their niece, and In Vernonia they will spend some time with their son Ivan, who la principal of the high school there. v Remove "Island" The street de partment of Ashland, instructed by the city council, yesterday removed the "Island" from the downtown dis trict, a report In the Ashland Dally Tidings states. A crew spent the en tire day taking down the signs, break ing down the Island and hauling the remains away. Roads Passable Roads in the Cra ter Lake district are still passable, with no snow to hamper tourists, J. Q. Bromley, resident maintenance en gineer for the atate highway depart ment reported In Grants Pass yes terday. The roads are In good con dition, no serious frosts having tak en place to break them up, Bromley said. Enroll Eight Men The enrollment of eight men for the CCC work, which Is being done today, completea the quota for this district, with the ex ception of the veterans' quota, Cap tain Harold E. Stow said today. The veterans, about 20 of them, are being sent to Medford from Port George Wright at Spokane. They will be atatloned in the camp at Pistol river, upon arrival here. W ' '.' Mra. LEO CARILLO IN 'MEN ARE FOOLS' "Mn Are Such Fools," a colorful comedy-drama featuring the fascin ating Leo Carrillo and the beautiful Vlvlenne Osborne, Is playing at the Studio theater tonight and Wednes day. The film Is packed with music, songs, chorus beauties, hilarious com edy and tense drama. PLAY 13-13 HE By Harold Grove. Medford high school's Tiger cubs managed to play a 13 to 13 tie with the St. Mary's Academy high school football squad on Van Scoyoc field last night. The St. Mary's team uncorked a heavy passing attack, making both their touchdowns on passes. The first touchdown was made In the third quarter and the second In the fourth quarter. Just before the gun ended the game. The extra point was added by a line buck. The high school Tiger Cubs made their two touchdowns on long runs by Shafer and Ottoman, the former making a 50-yard run for a touch down and the latter making another 50-yard run which lacked Inches of being a touchdown, but Owen Bates, brother to "Bill Bates, the Great," plunged over the line from the one yard line for the touchdown. The extra point was made by a line plunge. Most of the third and fourth quar ters were played In near darkness. Reservations for the Chamber of Commerce luncheon to be held Wed nesday at the Hotel Medford In com pliment to retiring Supervisor Hugh B. Rankin of the Rogue River Na tional forest were coming along very nicely, It was reported by chamber of commerce officials this morning. In order that the hotel may be ad vised as to the number to be ex pected those expecting to attend are asked to Immediately notify the Chamber of Commerce. The luncheon will be held tn the main dining room commencing at 12 o'clock and will conclude punctually at 1:16. B. C.
