Bergen Goes North Chaplain Willis Bergen of the Civilian Conservation corps is going to Portland, tomorrow, completing hia stay here. Tools Are Stolen Dale Smith, who lives about two and a half miles southwest of Phoenix, reported to police here that a number of tools were stolen from his ranch last nlfiht. Loses Bicycle Earl Courtney of North Grape street was minus one bicycle this morning. He reported the theft of same from his home last night to city police. Mrs. Johnston Here Mrs. A. M Johnston of Bakersfleld, Cal.. Is spending a few weeks In the city, visiting her sister, Mrs. James Taylor, on South Grape street. Hush to Lecture J. C. Wing's mother, was sent to the Wings by her. Bob Km mens 111 Bob Emmens, eon of Dr. and Mrs. J. J. Emmens, was brought to the Sacred Heart hospital last night as an emergency appendi citis case. Emmens Is a student at the University of Oregon and his par ents are visiting in the east this month. Tenjrwald Home Victor Tengwald of the Jackson county relief commit tee has returned from Eugene, where he attended the conference of relief and welfare workers in the university city. Dr. E. B. Mittelman, recently appointed statistician of the state re lief committee, announced that a federvl census is being compiled of all names on the relief rolls. Elmer Rex Goudy, executive secretary of the state relief committee, presided and many Interesting plans for handling of the transient problem were pre sented. Clarlbel Nye of Oregon State college volunteered much Informa tion on the diet question. Josephine Men Enrolled Seven men from Josephine county In the 18 and 25-year classification, were enrolled by the Civilian Conservation corps here today. Down from Lake With a load of snow on top of his auto, Ernest Hos tel came down from Cater Lake park last night and announced that stormy weather was prevailing Uiere. Veterans to Meet Commander Canfield has called a special meeting of Crater Lake post No. 1833, Veter ans of Foreign Wars, to be held at the Eagles' hall Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock. Parr Visits Here Roy Parr, who was recently released from the game division of the state police In the ecenomy program underway, stopped here last night en route to Ashland from Reedsport and turned In his equipment at state police headquar ters. He was accompanied to Med ford by his son, Roy Parr, Jr. Central Point Meeting Mabel C. Mack, home demonstration agent, has announced a meeting of the Central Point home demonstration unit for Thursday. November 2, at the Central Point Grange hall at 10 o'clock. A covered dish luncheon will follow and the afternoon will be spent consider ing practical suggestions for Christ mas gifts. Mrs. Gene Blackford, chairman of the unit, will direct the arrangements. Sixteen per cent of the accidents, resulting in death, oc cur when people are walking on the highways, and only 11 per cent are caused by children. The remainder result from pedestrians stepping from behind cars and miscellaneous acci dents. Tills week Sam Chisholm was seriously injured on the highway north of Gold Hill, when struck by an auto, and last night Raymond Blngman, young son of the E. R. Bingmans, was critically Injured, when running across North Riverside. Several weeks ago Geo. S. Gordon of Central Point was killed when walking from that city to this one during the early morning.
