(AP) A movement Into the Portland mar ket of Immature turkeya was said by the Journal today to be the chief lactor In forcing prices downward. "ine situation appears - serious In spots but la due entirely to the lack of quality stock now reaching the trade," the writer aald. The article quoted (Albert Clark) one of Portland's largest distribu tors of the birds, as having advised growers that "the big idea now la to hold your turkeys; If you don't there will be a very serious break 1 In prices. Already the market is weaker and lower. . . . Toms and hens would not bring over 18 to 19 cents a pound here from distribu tors with undergrades down to , 15 cents." Estimates indicated that all but a, mere fraction of the aupply now reaching the market la below top grade, the paper continued. 1 Livestock PORTLAND, Oct. 27, (AP) Cat tle: 25, calves 40; ateady, unchang ed.
