"MTTDFfVRD MATL TRTBUXE. rEDFORD. OREGON", FRIDAY. OCTOBER 13. 1933. PAOE FIVE IN GOOD SHAPE FOR HARD GAME Invaders Strength Veiled j New Faces Will Be Seen in Locals' Starting Lineup j Kunzman at Half (By Harold Grove) j Two football combinations. Med-, ford and Crescent City, will clash on Van Scoyoc Held tomorrow after noon. Klckoff time la aet for 3 o'clock, and from the first crouch of flying forma until the final punch there will be plenty of fireworks. The Medford team, under the In spirational leadership of Coach D. K. i Burgher, la recognized as among the outstanding squads of the state. The line will have an average weight of 165 pounds and the backfleld will average 165 pounds. Men In Good Shape The boys have been practicing hard ' all week on fundamentals and are In good shape for the game. Last week they went to Roseburg all cocked to beat the Indians badly, but they came back with a one-point victory. However, Medford pushed the ball several tlmea to the Rose burg five-yard line, and a touchdown was squeezed from their grasp be cause of a penalty. Two yeara ago crescent City Jour neyed to Medford to poke around wlt.h the little Tiger. The Tlgera opened up with a series of end runa and terrific line smashes to win, 33 to 0. The game was hard fought throughout. San Kunzman, the Tiger ball car rying back, who was an understudy last year at end, will probably make his debut Saturday at left half. Stan, a 146 pounder, has been showing a lot of speed and driving power. The first week out for practice Kunz man worked up a "Charley .horse" in his right leg and was out of practice two weeka. Tommy White, a veteran of two seasons, will be In the lineup at quarter. Tom has developed into an excellent punter and Is rated ex ceptionally meaty on backing up the Une. Bill Bates, fullback, the star of last Saturday's Invasion of Roseburg, will not be In the lineup because of an Injured back sustained 'in the game. Lloyd Hammack, center, was Injured also at Roseburg. He was trying to break through the Indians' line and received an Injured knee. Keith Es tea. tackle. Is still out of practice. Keith received a very badly wrench ed knee In the Weed high school game two weeka ago. Crescent Strength Unknown No definite information has been received as yet as to the true status of the Crescent City team.. How ever, the Callfornlans nave always come to Medford with a good scrappy bunch of ball players. The starting lineup for the Med ford tam will show that a lot of the boys that have been starting the games will be left to warm the benches. The probable atartlng lineuj: Medford Medford: Bennett, left end: Kin dred, left tackle; Baker, left guard: Stewart, center: Prentice, light guard; Shaw, right tackle; Hlnman. right end; Brown, left halfback; Kunzman, right halfback; White, quarterback: Lewis, forward. Substitutions: Medford Pierco, Knrri, Ohelardl, Severson, Fowler, Clebhardt, Ollinsky, Dlfford, Sim mons. Hammack, Bates, Kuehnle and Kroschell. Erwln plays the role of the dumbest round-up man a western ranch owner ever chased eff the plains.
