EST IN By Helen McAllister During the last two years there hu been a, lull In the enthusiasm of senior high and Medford sport fans. Although this aeemed to go hand in hand with the general depressing conditions, it has suddenly been thrown off. Since the first pep rallies of the football season, under Yell Leaders Bob Qall and Dick Sleeter, and Song Queen Pat Carlson, the spirits of Medford high have been rejuvenated. In the past week It has been ru mored that the boys have made plans to organise a pep club to cooperate with the girls' pep club at games, assemblies and rallies. With this much needed action, still more life will be aroused from the student body of M. H. S. Now with new equipment for the team, the new spirit of the students, snd the wholehearted support of the business men, Medford high school has snspped back Into her leading and well accustomed position. Selma CCC 1748 company, being located In the center of the Oregon pear dlatrlct, has been remembered by the pear growera to auch an extent that It haa been necessary to store the pears In a large box near the camp. About 9 p. m. the other night, a terrible rustling of nearby fence was beard and, with CCC lnqulsl tlveness, one of the Kerbyltes dlsoov ered something like a bear doing his best to reach the top of a nearby fir. With a "bring 'em back alive" spirit, two of the boys shsgged up after Mister Whatever-It-Was. One look at the four-foot long object on an up per limb, followed by a gruff growl, and they all but dove off their 50 foot post. By this time, about 1 members had assehbled and were engaged In a full discussion of how to have Mr. Bear for a camp mascot. The best Idea seemed to be to fall the tree (a well-known CCC activity), and talk It over with the party In question. ' Down came the tree, and old bruin, uninjured, lumbered through the ranks on a camel-like lope with the whole msd tribe sfter him. WhsmI the pursued ran Into an unseen woven wire fence and took a pass at the nearest pursuer. Right down to the camp, past the officers' quarters, one of whom took up the chase, the bear loped.
