In spots the trade was In clined to show a small degree of strength early In the period but this disappeared generally with the re newal of very free and liberal oiler lug. Practically no changes were sug gosted In the price list either on the coast or In the east. . Market for butter was showing a generally steady tone with a fair de gree of activity suggested In lato trading here. Open market sales were within the late price range. Market for live chickens was hold ing steady except for light weight hens which were more or less of poor quality. Broilers were in favor and at full prices. Market for country killed meat has a generally steady tone with practically no change In the price from last week. Tops on vealera were till around extreme with hogs 8c.. Beef remained alow. Trading In the potato market waa about steady locally although the movement out of the source was by no means brisk. Demand appeared up to Immediate local offerings. Market on onions was oelng held steady here but speculative Interest was nil, Orowers In general were seeking 76c and sacks for No. 1 grado with small lots moving at that. . Livestock. PORTLAND, Oct.
