Neu steadt of San Mateo, Cal., a profound student of economics and Interna- tlonal relations, on which subjects he has written several books, was in I Medford Thursday and Friday, calling number of old friends, among them Attorneys Gus Newbury and Donald Newbury. Mr. Neusteadt formerly owned or chard tracts here and now has some real property in Medford, whioh ne was looking over. Gene Stowell, winner The good old fiddlln by Gene Stowell, well-known southern Oregon pioneer took first honors and the five dollars cash prize in last Saturday's CCC soloist radio; contest. The radio audience, elected Mr. Stowell winner of first place by wide margin, indicating the popu larity of the old time unvarnished melodies, played as they were In the days of Mr. Stowell's youth. It was Interesting to learn that of fifteen CCC members participating in the contest, thirteen of them drew votes In the final count. The contest of last Saturday was another success for the participants, and the radio au dience responded ,wlth votes from most all southern Oregon points.
