Mr. Owen Leaves James H. Owen left on the Oregon lan last evening for Portland, where today he Is at tending a meeting of an N. R. A. committee concerning the lumber code. He plans to return here this evening. Returns to School George Wlnne, who has been attending the United States naval academy at Annapolis for the past year, left Sunday by mtor for the east, having spent the summer here with his mother, Mrs. Nell Wlnne, and other relatives George planned to stop In Eugene before continuing to school. Enjoying School Miss Katherlne Stearns, who left this city recently to enter nurses' training school at Stan ford university, is enjoying her work very much, according to letters re ceived by her father, Dr. R. W. Stearns. Miss Shaw Goes North Miss Vera Shaw, granddaughter of Mrs. 8. E. Howlett, well-known pioneer of south ern Oregon, left the first of the week to return to her home In Portland, after being guest of the Howletts at Eagle Point for some time. A companies Team A. S. Rosen baum, district freight and passenger agent for the Southern Pacific com pany today,- accompanied the South ern Oregon Normal school football team north, through his district, which extends as far as Grants Pass. The team is en route to Corvallls Mr. Rosenbaum plans to return here Saturday morning. Armbrust Leaving Lieutenant Carl R. Armbrust of the C. C. 3. headquartres here. Is leaving tomor row morning for Moon Prairie, from where he will accompany 17 men to Klamath Falls. From there they will en train for Redding. Cal., to be Joined by another group of C. C. C men who are returning to Fort Kno. Kentucky. Daniels' Home from South Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Daniels returned last night from a three weeks' business trip through southern California. Mr. Daniels today reported conditions much Improved In the southern state, with signs of business increases since last May evidenced on all sides.
