recipe for huckleberry cream pie, re
cently received from Alaska, follows:
Huckleberry Cream Pie.
Fill a baked pastry shell with a
cream filling made as follows:
l'i cups milk
yt cup flour
vi cup sugar
14 teaspoon salt
3 egga.
Put milk In top of double boiler.
Mix sugar and flour snd add to the
milk. Cook until thick. Add egg yolks
and aalt and beat until amooth. Pour
Into the pie crust, cover with 1 cup
fresh sweetened huckleberries. Beat
the egg whites and add 3 tablespoons
augar. Spread over the berries and
brown slightly In a medium1 oven.

Ore. (Spl.) Despite abnormal busi
ness conditions of the past several
years, travel Into the national parks,
as a whole, has not suffered. Dr. H. C.
Bryant, assistant director of the Na
ttonal Park service, stated when
visitor at Crater Lake recently.

the naturalist service at Crater Lake,
Dr. Bryant stated the personnel of
the past summer, under the direction
of Park Naturalist D. B. Llbbey. was
one of the best selected and of the
highest type he had noted In any na
tional park and the best In the his
tory of Crater Lake.
Dr. Bryant reviewed general activi
ties of the park service, including
plans for the establishment and de
velopment of parka in the eastern
states, preserving wooded areas in
Vhat region, as welt as points of his
torical Interest. Among outstanding
parks of the esst now being estab
lished snd developed are the Great
Smoky and the Shenandoah, both ot
which are made up of privately owned
lands purchased from the owners by
the government.
