Prospect schools opened September 11 with a much smaller enrollment than last year. Relief canning la being done both at Prospect and McLeod, with a large number at each place. Tomatoes were canned last week. Stewart Weeks and Mr. Anna Weeks spent September 13 In Med ford shopping, .attending to business and visiting relatives. Mrs. Jack Ojesdehl and her sister, Mrs. Lang of Seattle, were recent house guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Haekkerup at the power plant. Mrs. OJesdahl and Mrs. Haekkerup were schoolmates In Wisconsin. J. Jorgenson and family are recent arrivals at the the power plant. Mr. Jorgenson has taken Oene Dub 11 rig's place in the warehouse. They are from Brookinga. John Haekkerup, Jr., plans to leave for Corvallia In a few days, where he will be a sophomore at O. S. O. Leo Hoag will accompany him and enter as a freshman. Town tn 1 Down BUTTE FALLS, Ore., Sept. 18. (Spl,) September 13 Butte Falls and vicinity had hard rain showers which cleared away the dust. At 8 p. m. the sun came out tn a clear, blue sky. Art Alqulst and Keith McCauley are visiting the world's fair. School opened Labor Day aa utual. On Friday all the teachers, namely. Principal Roacoe Larson, Mrs. Oeorge Stewart, Mlss'-Evanston, Clem Clark. Mrs. Clem Clark, Mrs. Ruth MlcheU and Miss Hazel Taylor attended the Teachers' Institute In Medford. Mr. end Mrs. Right of Central Point were Butte Falls visitors Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Morrel Patton and son, Harold, of Los Angeles, have moved to a ranch on Little Butte. They visited relations here last Fri day, Nearly all vacant houses In Butte Falls are again occupied since fall la here and school open. Canning season has been a strenu ous one for nearly all housewives In Butte Falls. The main work haa been accomplished and now all may soon heave a sigh of relief and rejoice in their achievement. Mark Koontz returned from Port land recently and Is spending a short time with Ben Edmondson on the ranch. While In Portland he suf fered a severe attack of ptomaine poisoning last winter and nearly died. He is weak yet, but has gained 10 pounds since returning to Butte Falls and he Is regaining strength rapidly. Mrs. Alice Kllngle and sons of Lake Creek have visited Mr. and Mrs. Ous Edmondson. They returned to Lake Creek last Sunday. Mrs. Mn honey returned from a sev eral months' visit with her brother and family tn North Dakota and la now living in the Slmervllle house. Mr. and Mrs. Moore of Rogue River visited their daughter and son-in- law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles White at their camp on Butte Creek last Sun day and Monday. BUI Howard la working at the "Dude Ranch," the local slang name for the fur and game farm. Ernest Alberts has built a concrete walk to his residence from the street. It looks- good to see such Improve ments. Willis Carson la working for the government near Prospect. He Is helping destroy pine beetles and other forest enemies. On September 16 a son arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Jack son. The baby wa named Carl Fer ris Burke Jackson. Mother and son are getting along well. Mrs. D. M. Cleveland Is the nurse.
