Telephone Robbed A report was filed with the city police Wednesday afternoon that the telephone box at the Southern Pacific depot was taken from the booth and the money re moved, sometime Tuesday night. Returns from Inspection Lee M. Bown, captain of the Oregon state police, returned to Medford yester day from an Inspection tour of dis trict No. 8. - He stopped in Ashland in the forenoon before returning here. At Fur Farm General Glassford of Washington, D. C, also his son-in-law and daughter, Attorney and Mrs. Lee Combes of Los Angeles, are va cationing this week at the Northwest fur farm, located east of Prospect. The general spent his vacation there last year, also. Present smoking Set; Boys at the C. C. C. Camp Ingram have com pleted an attractive smoking set for presentation to Captain W. R. Church, formerly commander at Ingram, who has been transferred to the Elk creek camp. The wooden stand has two candle holders, an ash tray, a tiny sledge hammer and ax carved from wood and stained. More Vaccinations The county health department will vaccinate more residents of the Gold Hill dis trict next Monday, Including school children, for smallpox. A goodly por tion of the popuatlon of Gold Hill have been vaccinated the past week. as the result of many being exposed to the disease. Get Plane The new red Waco flve pasaenger cabin plane belonging to Ralph Vlrden, United Air Unas pilot, and C. Ray Qllllland of the North west .fur farm, is now at the farm. Mr. Gllllland announced when In Medford yesterday, and will be used to bring guests to the ranch from the south. Miner Drops Dead According to the Grants Pass Dally Courier, Victor John Mason, 40, a miner from Se attle, dropped dead from a heart at tack on the trail up Tennessee Pass on Josephine creek near Kerby, about S o'clock Tuesday afternoon. The body was taken to Grants Pass by the Josephine county coroner, Virgil Hull. t Secure Marriage License Ernest Alvin Tarr, 89, of Medford. and Eve lyn Blanche Jones, 19, of Central Point secured a marriage license at the Josephine county courthouse Tuesday afternoon and left Immedi ately for Medford to be married. Tarr gave his occupstlon as a painter. It was the first marriage for' both. Grants Pass Dally Courier. At Hotel Meeting W. M. Clemenson of the Jackson hotel and Pete Den son of the Medford hotel are In Port land today attending a hotel proprie tors' meeting, to receive the code drawn up for them under the N.R A. American title holder. reached the semi-finals of the na tional women's gold championship to day and will meet tomorrow. The International duel of the cham pions was set aa Miss Wilson defeated Charlotte Glutting of West Orange, N. J., a and 1, and Miss Van Wle turned back a spirited challenge by Mrs. Leona Cheney, San Gabriel, Cel., one up. Helen Hicks of Inwood, N. Y and Maureen Orcutt, Haworth, N. J, reached the other semi-finals match. Miss Hicks defeated Luclle Robinson, Des Moines, 4. and 8, and Miss Orcutt eliminated Mrs. O. S. Hill of Kansas City, one up. Youth Held As Office Looter Esrl Thompson, 19, who laid he was an orphan from Florida, Is being held In the city Jail, following his arrest early this morning, by city and state police, on charges' of hav ing stolen a number of articles from the offices of Dr. B. C. Wilson and Harry Skyrman In the Medford cen ter building. According to the report at the po lice station, Thompson was In Dr. Wil son's office when the doctor arrived early in the evening. Thompson claimed he was not well, and a pre scription was given him by the doc tor. Later It was discovered a num ber of articles were missing from the office. Attorney Skyrman reported the theft of some money, and other artlclea. Officers arrested Thompson on the street some time after midnight, and a number of allegedly stolen articles were In his bag.
