GORE Like an oasla In the desert was the llluatmted lecture at the high school auditorium Tuesday night by Lois Lobdeli, who showed unusual views of the Zlon National Park and Bryce Canyon Miss Lobdel Is woman's welfare director of the Union Psclflo system and infusee the spirit of the great out-doors into her leoture. She creates an atmosphere of active par ticipation in the trip through the park that is very fascinating. As one wes heard to say, "The way ahe carried me along. I thought I'd never come out of some ot those great canyons M Miss Moulton, who assisted Miss London and who has sung In grand opera before world audiences, also plessed with musical interpretatlona of some of the most outstanding scenes. Several large affairs and numerous dinners preceded the Johnsens de parture. Mrs. Lumsden left Friday evening for the north, where Mrs. Lumsden and children will Join him the last .of this week. . Another branch of the work of the Auxiliary Is the publicity. In order to carry out Its purpose most ef fectively It la necessary for the Auxil iary to give the publlo an under standing of its Ideals and principles and of the work which it Is doing. By making Itself well known to 'the public, publlo support can be as sured in all Auxiliary work, and as many of the Auxiliary activities are of a public or seml-publle nature, thla support Is essential to fullest success. The publicity work In the Auxiliary haa no end of its own to gain, but Its purpose is to acquaint the public with, the work of the Auxiliary. For success In membership work, In re habilitation, child welfare, American ism, community service, national de fense, legislative work and the other endeavors of the Auxiliary effective publicity la always an Important aid and often vitally necessary. It Is the endeavor of the Auxiliary to continue to be a group of patriotic women. banded together for the dual purpose of contributing to the welfare of the widows and orphans of World War Veterans and In the rehabilitation of the disabled World War veteran. It Is an honor to be able to belong to such a group of women and help In such a well-defined program. The Auxiliary is comprised of the highest grade of women who are able to com bine pleasure with work. Every mother, wife, alster and daughter of a World war veteran should belong. for it is impossible for any organi zation to do Its most successful work without adequate co-operation. Baptist Auxiliary' ' Haa Bnsy Day The Ladlea1 Auxiliary ot the First Baptist ohurch had a busy all-day meeting In the cool recreation hall Tuesday. Everyone worked, even the children, sewing quilt blocks. The luncheon was fine. At 3:30 the president, Mrs. W. R Crawford, took the chair. After the business session Mrs. Mary Strickland led the missionary meeting and Mrs E. E. Wilson the devotlonals. The subject was "Burma." Reports from the missionaries and teaoaers telling about Judson college, vaca tions in. the mountains, assembly. T. M. and Y. W. C. A. work, closed with circle of prayer for the workers In that field.
