The pioneer parade which will award many cash prices for best cos tumes, rigs and accessories, will be but one of the many features of this year's Gold Rush Jubilee. There will be a two-day rodeo, mammoth outdoor wrestling arena, three dances. historic museums, the spot where gold was first discovered in the state, producing backyard gold mines, doz ens of contests and races with sub stantia prizes. In fact, from early morning hours till dawn of the next day Jacksonville will provide her guests with a never-ending array of free entertainment (eatures. Hard rock millers, muckers, log rollers, clowns and bands all will demon strate their abilities. Tough sour doughs, grizzly pocket hunters and Inveterate gamblers, like In the days of old, will parade the streets and "paint the town red." In anticipation of great throngs, and to make their stay both com fortable and pleasant, the Jackson ville chamber of commerce officials have provided free picnic and camp (acuities. How? "In cans of beans," say those who are working busily at the Armory kitchen under auspices of the Jackson county relief committee, of which A. S. V. Carpenter la chairman and Mrs. It. & Oreea, secretary. Canning of the string bean crop is in full swing this week at the Arm ory. The women are cannins; at the kitchen each day but Saturday and Sunday, from 8 o'clock in the morn ing until 4 o'clock In the evening. Any women receiving notices an nouncing their eligibility to partici pate in the canning operations are asked to cal at the relief headquar ters in the city hall to mske further arrangements regarding when to ap pear at the Armory kitchen. Anyone with surplus beans la also asked to call 634 or to come to the relief committee headquarters or the Armory kitchen, where the committee will arrange to call for the product. Mrs. Louis B. Humphrys Is man ager of the Armory kitchen, where 360 cans of beam were preserved Tuesday. Two and a half pound cans are used. All women at the kitchen participate la the work, then each takes her allotment of beans. The Armory kitchen la Just one station in the county-wtda project, which Is expected to aid many in supplying families with food next winter. Other stations are being opened In various sections of the val ley, under direction of Mrs. Mabel Mack., home demonstration agent, and Mrs. Green.
