Jewelers of Medford have agreed to adhere strictly to the wage code adopted by local employers last Sat urday, they announced, following ; conference this afternoon. The 40- hour week for employes and the 8 a. ra. to 5 p. m. store open hours sgreed on then, will be observed, at least until further announcement of the Jewelers' nstlonal code la received from Washington. All are heartily in favor of the ad- ministration' program and want to adhere to the original agreement, reached here, until otherwise inform ed through Washington. Soon after he was convicted on a second degree murder charge for the slaying of a Medford constable as the climax of a political embroilment In which he wss the ring -leader, Banks announced he would write a book. He waa formerly editor of the Medford News and operator of orch ard tracts. "Weighed In the Balance" has no reference to the factional disturbance which rocked Jackson county, nor any mention of Banks' Implication In this trouble. The author describes It as a trea tise on national events, showing the trend of a nation from democracy to dictatorship and from Christianity to paganism.
