More Chickens Stolen Another cast of chicken stealing was reported to the city police Saturday. E. A. Dorf of 1119 North Central announced that two fat hena were taken from his pjace some time Friday night. , Mirrors Stolen Two six-dollar mir rors were stolen from the Valentine cafe between two and four o'clock Saturday morning, the owners repor: ed to police. The mirrors were remov ed from the booths of the cafe. Lake In Hospital Lieut. Richard Lake, U. S. N. Is a patient In the Sa cred Heart hospital from the Bly CCC camp, having been brought in by am bulance yesterday. His condition was reported much Improved last nignt. To Medford Ralph O. Jennings re turned to Medford Saturday after having been aubpoenaed to Klamath Falls in the Earl rehl ballot trial. Mr. Jennings was called by the state, but did not testify. Fort Jones Lad Gone Report was received by state police yesterday of a runaway boy missing from -Fort Jones. Cal. The call came about 5 o'clock Saturday . morning, and the boy had not been located late yester day. He was described as IS years old, flvt feet, three Inches tall, weigh ing 100 pounds, and wearing a red hat, white corda or overalls. Beaufalts at Trail The J. L. Beau- fa Its of Los Angeles are In southern k Oregon for the summer and have started construction of a cabin on their place on Rogue River near Trail. The river place la known as Rogue Woodlands. With them Mr. and Mrs. Beaufalt have their - four sons. Mr. Beaufalt la an instructor in the Met ropolitan high school at Los Angeles. . Miss Wetherlee Returns Miss Beuna L. wetherlee, a graduate of the Good Samaritan hospital, Port land has assumed charge of the Jack sonville Sanitarium. Mlas Wetherlee Is glad to return to the Rogue River valley after an absenae of nearly four years. Miss Wetherlee Is the daughter of Mr. and Mre. The commissioner said he bore no bitterness towards Fehl,- that when both assumed office, they had agreed to work together, but it failed, that he bore no hatred towards Fehl. or "anybody else, though there are plen ty of people, I feel sorry for." Attorney Hough In his cross-examination attempted to show that Nealon was a political enemy of Fehl, and that he belonged to "committees In Jackson county" opposed to the defendant. Nealon testified he belonged only "to the Orange, a Sunday school, and a church, was a farmer, and had lived all his life in Jacksoi county." Comedy crept in and out of th testimony of the county official. Krlng, further testified that he had: "no Intentions of following Petal's suggestion to steal ballots," and had dismissed it from his mind. The witness said that Fehl hsd call ed the recent decision an "Injustice," and that at a meeting, at the home of L. A. Banks, convicted slayer, which Fehl attended, Banks asked Krlng, "what success I was having In get ting a special prosecutor, and if I knew of any propaganda to throw blame for the ballot robbery, away from Judge Fehl and others." Krlng swore that Fehl turned out the lights in the auditorium about 11 o'clock, on the night of the rob bery, leaving the lights burning on the rostrum where were seated Henri etta B. Martin, her father and mo ther, Mr. and Mrs. O. H. Brown, and L. A. Banks, with L. O. Van Wegen, tn the background. "Brown became Impatient, and his daughter, Mrs. Martin told him to sit down, and Brown said "why do we have to stick around, when every thing is done, and we are ready to go?" Banks also asked why the de lay, and Mrs. Martin replied: "We can't go out the back door, until Jones gives us a signal." Krlng also testified that In general talks with Fehl before the ballots were stolen, Fehl told him. "the bal lots can't be counted, they will have to be gotten out of the way some how." Krlng furthr testified that he and his wife, a Mrs. Llndsey,, and a Mrs, White, had hastened from the audi torium, when they heard the com ment of Mrs. Martin. Raymond and wife received minor Injuries and their car was practically demolished In a crash last night at Jackson and Bartlett streets when their auto collided with that driven by C. A. Myers.
