BALLOT BOXES SENT OUT FOR FRIDAY'S VOTE Distribution of balloU and bllot bozM, to tba 58 precinct of the county for the special election Fri day, were underway today by the sheriff's and clerk's offices, and all will be delivered by midnight Thurs day. New and repaired election equip ment has been provHed for the 32 precincts of the city, which had their bsllot containers stolen on the night of February 30 last, and the contents destroyed, ostensibly to prevent i count for the office of sheriff sched uled for the following day. Forty six precincts had ballots missing In the check-up after the vote stealing nd burning. Tops of 18 pouches were found hidden beneath the court house, and four recovered from Rogue river. They are exhibits In the bBllot-theft cases and will be Introduced In the Klamath county trial, starting next week. What local interest Is manifested In the special election centers in the Sales Tax and Prohibition Repeal measures. Rural areas are reported Interested In the sales tax: the cities and towns In' the repesl act. Last minute changes In polling places have been made three In Ashland, and one In this city. Censer aged 9S years pain ed away in Areata, California, Tues day evening. Mr. Conser had been a resident of Medford for the past eighteen years prior to moving to Areata In 1928. Mr. Conser was a member of the South Methodist church of Medford and very well known and loved. He Is survived by two dsughters In Kansas, one daughter at Areata where he has made his home, and one son In Crescent City, Calif. Tlngleaf, friend and neighbor, aa the climax to a trivial quarrel outside an Eagle Point dance hall, about midnight on Saturday, July 8, will be taken to the state penitentiary, within the week, by Sheriff Olmacheld. Tlngleaf died the following day from the ef fects of a terrific beating at the nanda of Hanscom. Hanscom who wept bitterly In court yesterdsy when he entered a plea of guilty, wss more reconciled today, In his cell, but still deeply remorseful. He expressed regret, and sympathy for the family of his vlo- tim in open court, before the manda tory sentence of life Imprisonment wss Imposed by Judge Sklpworth. Hanscom was allowed to plead guilty to second degree murder, be- cause of the lack of premeditation in the killing, It occurring following violent outburst of temper. The two men were friends. The esse of Fred Wolf, charged with murder, as the climax of a rural love, triangle, last May, In which Wil liam Sheldon was slain, la still pend ing In the local courts. He Is repre sented by Attorney Frank DeSoura. Wolf awaits grand Jury action and Attorney DeSoura said no guilty plea would be entered. Hanscom, when he reaches the penitentiary, will Join a large colony of Jackson county Inmates serving for felonies ranging from theft to capital offenses.
