Takes Liquor North Federal Prohl b'tion Investigator Clyde Hedgea, sta tioned at Roseburg. waa In Medford early this morning to transfer a load of 43 gallons of slcohol to the prohi bition headquarters In Portland. The liquor had been stored In the deputy United States marshal vault at the federal building. UNIDENTIFIED BODY FOUND NEAR SALEM SALEM, July 3. fV-No identifi cation had been made today of a dis integrating body found Saturday on the weit bank of the Willamette riv er here. The registrar and manager was Rev. H. T. Mltchelmore of Ashland, An Interesting feature was the gift of 160 acres of land at Glendale, Ore., for a permanent camp site. This Is the gift of Rev. and Mrs. J. K. How ard and Is given for life. Mrs. Behb Enjoying Summer Opera Seamon In New York "The Chicago Opera company u having three weeks of opera in New York. Attended a matinee perform ance of 'Martha' Saturday and to my surprise, when I opened the program. I saw In the cast, the character of 'Martha' (Lady Harriet) waa to play ed by none other than Caroline An drews" Is an interesting note in a letter Just received from Mrs. Royal B. Bebb, who with young aon. Ward, la enjoying a summer in the east. "Her acting was splendid and voice excellent," Mrs. Bebb continues her g-Umpse of the former Medford girl. "Her singing of The Last Rose of Summer' won her several curtain calls. "As I was going out I ran into Mr. Ed Andrews and enjoyed a chat with him. Expect to attend the evening performance Wednesday of 'Carmen,' in which Caroline Andrews will take the part of Mlcaela." A round of entertaining and gaiety for her pleasure in New York and New Jersey, prior to entering Into her music study July 10th is revealed In Mrs. Bebb a letter. But all events In her former home city are saddened. she also reveals in the letter, by the unexpected death of her old friend Mme. Mathllde Cottrelly, who began her dramatic career In Germany 74 years ago: produced and managed scores of plays in this country and once was known aa the most versa tile woman on the American stage. Before leaving Medford for New York, Mrs. Bebb received a letter from Mme Cottrelly, inviting her ;o spend a month at her home on Barn gegat Bay. On the S. S. Dixie en route to New York from New Orleans, she receled a radiogram, stating that her friend waa seriously ill. Mrs Bebb will devots much time to the study of music before return ing to Medford In the fall to reopen her classes in piano here. She will probably meet more mem bers of the Andrews family before leaving, for Mra. George Andrews and aon. George Edward, are on their way to New York, where George will study voice and where they will make their home for a number of years. Mestlames Foster and Lindley Entertain Mrs. H. E. Foster of S12 North Bart lett and Mrs. W. T. Lindley of 315 East Jackson were hostesses at tea Thursday, honoring Mrs. Foster's sis ter, Mrs. Geo. R. Barry of San Fran cisco, who observed her 14th wedding anniversary, and Mrs. Llndley'a sla ter, Mrs. Harold Denson.
