Among the losers were Charlea Standi ford, J. R. Katfcan. John Green and Doc Stevens. Mr. MeiTlfleld (with a group or gold divers, below Gold Ray) says ss soon as the river goes down they will make a try-out to find gold on the river bed. Mr. an t Mrs. J. R. Kathan and little daughter, Joan, made a busi ness trip to Rogue River Saturday and visited their mothers. Edward Inman, with Johnny Boh nert and Fred Lofland of Central Point, spent, the' week-end at Flan lake. They caught the limit of east ern brook trout. Mr. and Mrs. John Anderson re turned Saturday from Pendleton where they attended the Oregon state grange convention. Mr. Anderson represented the fire insurance depart ment of the Central Point Grange there. Miss Dorothy Inman attended a Sunday school class party at Can trails on the Applegate river Sunday. Tolo school district held lta annual school meeting Monday, electing Ralph Rawson, d lrector for three years. Mrs. 8. S. Tule was retained as clerk. The non-high school dis trict board was voted on. Mr. end Mrs, P. N. Tracy have re ceived an Invitation to a home-coming at Roscommon, Roscommon coun ty, Mich., once the center of the lum bering Industry, now "the playground of Michigan." Rich Richmond has moved his cat tle to a summer range at Willow Flat. He plans to return them here 'this fall. Phoenix Church Program Listed PHOENIX, June 23. (Spl.) Many Valley View people attended the Ashland flower show last week. Mra. Sam McNalr's display of peonies waa deserving of special mention. Mrs. Berth Glasgow and Mr. M. 8. Nlchol of Valley View served aa Judges. They were invited to a garden dinner Thursday when Mrs. MoNalr entertained for the committee and helpera. Mrs. Mccracken took a car load of. Ashland ladtea to Grants Pass to the missionary convention last Friday. Mrs. Wm. Glenn gave a talk at Al pha club In Ashland last Tuesday on wild flowera In Alaska. Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Gallatin drove to the Coos Junction last Sunday where they enjoyed a picnic with their daughter and eon-ln-law, Prof, and Mrs. Arthur Sawyer. Clarence Mathes helped Don Lowe put up hi hay last week. Trail ball team played the Shady Cove team Sunday at the Dick Johnson field. The score waa 13 to 5 for Shady Cove. There vu a good crowd. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dawson of Port Angelea. Lee Merrlman has returned home from Portland. While there. he had the pleasure of attending the rose carnival. Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Hutchinson have returned from a two weeks vacation into Washington. Enroute they stop- LAURELH URST. June 23. (Spl.) Berry picking haa started at the Prank Dltsworth ranch with a crew of 35 Ipckers. Mr. D it worth expect to have about 1000 crates from the patch. .Mrs. Grace Jolleffe and the Col ling wood family, former residents of the Laurelhurst district, are among the berry pikers at Dltsworth'. Mrs. Jolleffe's home is at Grants Pass, while the Colllngswoods are living at Gold H1U. The county roaa crew is working on the Laurelhurst road. It Is ex pected that the section from the Ohrt place to the Laurelhurst school will be graveled by the crew. Rev. Iverson of Medford wilt ad dress the Laurelhurst Sunday school Sunday morning, June 35, at 10 o'clock. Sunday school officials would like to see a good crowd in at tendance. Mrs. Maud Brown and daughters, who have been staying several weeks with her mother, Mrs. Mary Meyer, returned home to Lakevlew Sunday. Mrs. Meyer la staying a few weeks with her sister, Mra. Emogene Char ley. Mr. and Mra. I. E. Meyers were Sunday guesu of Mra. Tonn and Harry. Mr. and Mra. Arville Settles of Weatport, Wash., who have been vis iting Mr. Settle' sister, Mra. L. H.
