" George Elden and Miss Adelaide Stambaugh, who have been guests the past week of George's parents, Mr, and Mrs. J. W.. Elden, returned to Portland Tuesday. Many friends of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Slagle of Talent were saddened by the news of Mrs. Slagle '5 death June a. They formerly resided here and Mrs. Slagle was a member of the Willow Springs Thursday club. Robert Brophy, who spent six weeks at the Parker home, returned Thurs day to Burns, where he Is employed by the Hlnes Lumber Co. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. BirkholR had as week-end guests Mrs. Clara Kuen Ell and her nephew, Daniel Kuenzll of Milwaukee, Wis., who are touring the coast by motor. They spent Sun day at Crater lake and Miss and Mr. Kuenzll left Monday for California. Miss Gwendolyn Houston has Just returned from Berkeley where ehe received her master's degree from the Unlvralty of California. She Is visit ing her sister, Mrs. Cornutt. Mr. and Mrs. Sharpie have recently purchased 70 acres of the old Straube place now owned by Mr. Wilson. They are erecting new buildings on this property. Mrs. W. K.
