Clyde J. Rupert, for three decadee

In Oregon, was today engaged ait
coach of athletics at Albany college.
He succeeds Char!? Lappenbuach,
who yesterday announced he had ac
cepted a position, as coach at the
Bellingham (Wash.) Normal school.
Rupert, a former major league
baseball scout, was a student at Al
bany college In 1903 and 1804.

Although both grapplers were knock
ed out In the final fall. Wong Bock
Cheung, Chicago Chinese was award
ed the victory over Abe Kaplan of
New York In the main event of last
night's wrestling card here because
the Chinese happened to light on
top as the two fell to the mat.
Cheung weighed 214 and Kaplan 218.
Kaplan won the first fall with a
wing lock in 8 minutes. Cheung
took the second In 5 minutes' with
a Manchurlan choke hold. After the
two had wrestled 26 minutes for the
third fall, they both got the idea at
the same time for a flying tackle,
and met head-on. Both crashed to
the mat, but Cheung lit on top and
was awarded the fall.
Richard Stahl, 218, Berlin, and
Oeorge Nelson, 216, Logan, Utah,
went five rounds to a draw In the
seml-wlndup.
Fred Maraccl. 176, Warren, Ore.,
was given the decision In the prelim
inary over Herman Olson, 176, Port
land, when the latter was disquali
fied for strangling.
Cornell Succeeds

Anson Cornell, former University of
Oregon football star and for the past
17 years head coach at the college of
Idaho at Caldwell, is the new direc
tor of athletics and head coach at
Pacific university of Forest Grove.
Dr. John F. Dobbs, president of the
latter. Institution, announced Cor
nell's appointment last night.

LAKE SWANNAOA, N. J.. June 1.
(AP) Although he is confident of
winning. Max Schmellng has no
place for a letup In his program of
training for his 15 round bout with
Max Baer a week from today. He
plans to continue boxing, with a
couple of rest days, right up to Tues
day, the day before breaking camp
to go to New York. Heavy sessions
are scheduled for today. Saturday
Sunday and Tuesday.
ATLANTIC CITY, N. J., June 1.
( AP) Max Baer and his manager,
Ancll Hoffman, are alt In favor of
the suggestion that Promoter Jack
Dempsey be appointed to referee the
Callfornlan's 16 round battle with
Max Schmellng.
"It really makes no difference to
me who referees," Hoffman asserted,
"for all he'll have to be able to do
la count up to ten."
Baer was to resume heavy training
today after a day of rest.
