City Sanitary Barrio, FANCY'S FLIGHT FILMED AI LAKE Ws put li msn on skis Into ths pictures to prove ths resltty of many of ths scant to ths public thslr btauty ws knew to be even beyond the flight of Imagination" such ws the description of Crater Lake ilven here Friday by Bruce Merman. Holly wood motion picture dlreetor. upon nis return from the nstlons) park with his csmsra man. H. C. Qlbbs. The beauty of Crater Lake and ths surrounding Oregon woods, wearing a cloak of snow, he explained, so fsr excelled his grestest expectations that he couldn't expect people who have not seen, to believe. "We took three times as many pic tures ss we Intended to when w came here." he added. 'We were sup posed to tske 300 feet of film. We shot 800 feet. We couldn't get enough." The pictures tsken will be Included In the Sh&sta Cascade Wonderland Travelogue, for showing at theater throughout the United States. It will be a msgna-cotor production and Crater Lake, mirroring In Its own par ticular blue, the geological forma tion and snow banks which surround It, along with glorious cloud effects, will form the climax of the picture. Messrs. Merman and Glbbs re mained at Crater Lake since last Fri day waiting for .Jhs storm to broak, and provide the necessary clearness needed for the scenes desired. Tues day, with less than 20 minutes' warn ing, the sun came out and they went to work, and with the aid of the Na tional Park rangers, without whom they could hare accomplished noth ing, they declnred todsy they obtained pictures, which are going to amaz theater-goers with their beauty. The service of the rangers and all psrk officials was praised again and again today by the motion picture men. The only troubles they encoun tered during the week's stay at th lake were brought on by the bears and slippery skis. One beer, who did not fancy his reflection In the glass of Merman'a car, broke the door 'In and ended the displeasing Imagery. "Spunky," the motion picture bull dog, got even with the bear later by staying on gusrd at the cook house meat supply. Merman and photographer left for California Friday afternoon and will return to southern Orsgon later In the seaaon to photograph Crater Lake without winter covering. Other pic tures for the travelogue will also be taken at that time, they reported to the Chamber of Commerce board of directors today.
