"I feel Just as I did before," said Mrs. Buck. "Of course I didn't know I was such a nuisance to the board before all this came up, and certainly I shouldn't want to con tinue a nuisance. Alpha Sigma Class Plans Sunday Picnic The Alpha Sigma class of the First M. E. church will meet Sunday, May 7, immediately after church, for picnic to be held in the vicinity of Table Rock. Miss Costley, who la the daughter of Mrs. Maud Costley of Modesto, has visited In Grants Pass on several occasions and has a number of friends and acquaintances here who will wel come her to the city. Hague of DeBarr avenui served a chicken dinner Tues day in honor of the birthday of their sister, Mrs. M. M. Collins, and a neighbor, C. M. Parker, whose birth day will occur In a few days. The guests of honor, seated at the head of the table, blew out the candles on the birthday cake and unwrapped the birthday gifts. Jigsaw puzzles and games made the evening pass quickly and pleasantly. Fifteen peo ple enjoyed the festive occasion. MARY'S MAY QUEEN TONIGHT Miss Patricia Hayes, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. James C. Hayes, will reign as queen this evening at the annual May festival at St. Mary's academy. The polls closed yesterday noon at the academy, following an exciting race for the queenshlp, and the election was won by Miss Hayes with a margin of several hundred votes when the final tabulation was completed. Her closest rival was Miss Made leine Schade, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Schade. Princesses will act as maids of honor this evening at the coronation, which will follow the class play to be presented by the high school tmys, and other gala events planned for the annual ob servance of May day. Miss Martha DeSouza, president of the academy sodality, will crown "Queen Patricia." The May Day ladles of the court will be present and the academy chorus will sing "Hall, All Hail, the Queen." The high school boys, not to be outdistanced qy the school's femi ninity, will present a clever drama. "The Deacon's Dilemma," at 8 o'clock. It will follow immediately after the chicken dinner to be served from 5 to 7:30.
