A meeting of the Colony club was among Interesting events of the past week in that circle. Friday afternoon members gathered to hear a well pre pared paper on "Foreign Relations," read by Mrs. J. F. Daughters of Nile Plan Benefit for Tuesday Afternoon Another large benefit party takes its place on the social horizon. The Daughters of the Nllo will entertain Tuesday at the Masonic hall with bridge playing to begin at 2 o'clock. Pivot auction and contract will be played and cards will be followed by tea. Van Scoyoo la an ex-regent of the chapter and has, for years, been an active worker and her helpful counsel will be greatly missed. CENTRAL POINT Last Tuesday Mrs. Monnle Hauser of Salem, asso ciate grand matron, Order of the Eastern Star, made an official visit to Nevlta chapter, Central Point. Mrs. Sadie Kohler and ber officers enter tained Mrs. Hauser at luncheon at the Hotel Medford, after which a school of Instruction was held at the Masonic Hall In Central Point. Preceding the evening meeting Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Sanderson entertained at dinner, complimenting Mrs. Hauser. Mrs. Sadie Kohler, worthy matron end H. P. Jewett, worthy patron of Nevlta chapter. Covers were placed at an attractively appointed table for Mrs. Hauser, Mr. and Mra. 8. Kohler. Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Jewett, Mrs. Nellie McGowan, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Hardy, Mrs. Jennie Merrltt, Jack Sanderson and Mr. and Mrs. Sanderson. The Masonic hall was decorated with spring flowers and potted ferns, which made a lovely setting for the Interesting evening enjoyed by mem bers from all southern Oregon chapters. An Interesting and Instructive talk was given by Mrs. Hauser, and during the evening solo numbers by Elsie Carlton Strang, whistling numbers by Dorothy Reynolds and readings by Gladys Jewett were greatly enjoyed. ' At the conclusion of the chapter, Mrs. Esther Sanderson sang "A Per fect Day," after which refreshments were served. Mrs. Gentry Hostess To Mission Society. The Missionary society of the M E- Church, South, met at the home of Mrs. Gentry on Liberty street, Tuesday afternoon, for the social meeting. Mrs. Champion was leader I of the program which waa on the work of the deaconess. The office of deaconess waa created in 1902 by the Woman's Board of Home Missions. The work of the social servloe worker and the deaconess are the same, but with the addition to tbe duties of the deaconess, that of Imparting the religious life to Individuals. The dea coness no longer wears the distinc tive uniform conalstlng of black dress, black bonnet, and white tie. There are 184 enrolled In deaconess work In 86 community centers located In 13 states. There are 7 Christian homes for business women In 0 states where these workers serve. Miss Thelma Gentry, home from O. S. O. for the spring vscatllon, sang "The Voice of God Is Calling! " After the program a social hour waa en Joyed. The business session will be held April 2 at the home of Mrs. I. W. Thomas. At that time names will again be chosen for the Polly anna game. Dinner to Honor ' Mrs. Anna Ellis A alx o'clock dinner will be serv ed at the Llthla hotel, Ashland, on Wednesday, March 29th, honoring Mrs. Anna Ellis, worthy grand mat ron of tbe state of Oregon. ' The last meeting of the Pythian Sisters' club was held Tueadaay at the home of Mra. W. Swarta and was very much enjoyed after ber long ab sence from Medford. Girls' League Dance Colorful Affair The gymnasium of the high school was attractively decorated with a St. Patrick's day motif as a sating for the annual Girls' League leap year dance Friday. This was one of the most enjoyed social events of the year and because of Its informal nature there was a large attend ance.
