Bnrlght. representing McKltrick "to tell him to tay home and take ear of his family, and I would tell McKltrick the same thing If he was jn court." Attorney Enrlght told the court that his client was a married man. residing on Laurel atreet. "and has a little girt" Bondsmen Mosher and Schollars were Questioned at considerable length, relative to their qualifica tions aa bondsmen. The court read he oath to them, explained its fea tures and expressed doubt that they were qualified. The oourt, however. Approved the bond. Mosher was frank and explicit In his testimony, and told the court that the matter of bonds was gone Into rather thoroughly, "ae matter of safeguarding public In terest." The official expressed the belief that McKltrick would not leave the Jurisdiction of the court. Attorney Enrlght also expressed the view that be would not. The deputy district attorney held that the "moral Influence was at issue," and decried the "picking up of bondsmen on the atreet." Attorney Enrlght explained to the court that the bondsmen were not produced by himself. No Arrests loom, ' No new arrest were scheduled for today In the ballot-theft matter, but the authorities continued their search for half a dozen men, wanted for questioning and on warrants, who have disappeared since last Sunday. Their whereabout are unknown. Be fore the arrests started moat pf the Jot were continuously on the streets of this city. The authorities alao reported that exodus of "strangers." who have been conspicuous on the streets of this city, and around the courthouse slnoe last January con tinued. Included in this group were a number, known to be commissary patrons. The state and city pollcs, and the district attorney's office were busy mobilising the evldenoe that will be presented to the new grand Jury, In the ballot theft and destruction sharges. Th Inquisitorial body is scheduled to convene early next week. Theodore J. Bell, Jr.. of the Talent district Is foreman. The non-Judlolal days, aa a result of the bank morato rium, will enable the authorities to assemble essential evidence, without the handicap of usual routine mat ters. ' Evidence Guarded. The authorities refuse to reveal any Information as to the number of witnesses, or the nature of their tes timony, or the number of confes sions thst have been made. A decided sentiment has been manifested throughout the county the past two days that the county judge and sheriff should "tempo rarily" withdraw from their oftlcea until the chargea against them are finally decided. The Ashland Tidings yesterday editorially favored this course. Citizens generally feel such course would aid "harmony and peace." She shrugged her shoulders in a manner that would have set hearts a-flutter back in tho old days, when the whip was reserved for Dobbin, and then continued: "Yes.
