While returning homo from high school at Ashland and Medford to spend the week-end with t;helr par ents, three Applegate boys narrowly escaped serious Injury when they wero filling the gas tank of the car by Candle Ught. The boys were John Harr, Maurice Rlchey and Dow Lewis. At the mouth of Squaw creek the car ran out of gas. After bor rowing gas a candle was lighted and placed In a tin can to provide IL-ht. As the gas Ignited the boy holdtrp -he gas can Jumped back and aaved the oar from burning. Earl Stoner. who went to Portland last week to visit her husband, who la a patient at the veterans' hospital, will remain there for an Indefinite pe riod.
