Since the normal differ ential between extras and standards was replaced on the Portland produce exchange, there has been' a better undertone in the trade. Attempt of Interests closely allied with 03-score butter to maintain a differential nf lc above standard cube stock, has failed because the general public pre fers the standard at the difference. Butterfat values were firm. Trading m the egg market con tinues generally unchanged as to price with more or less confusion stiU shown, slthough there appears a tendency on the part of distributors to get together. Market for live chickens continues to show a well maintained tone with most operators paying practically the same price as last week. Light hens and broilers continue In chief short age. Fractional advance In the price of country-killed calves, sales were be ing made fractionally above the pre vious extreme. In the country-killed meat trade practically no change In price w shown for recent days for either hogs or lambs. - There was a favorable tone for all mutton, too. Demand for dressed turkeys was holding well locally although extreme prices were not alwaya realized. Most sales of top hens were around 14- 15c with to ma 13 -14c lb. Less lower grade stuff was arriving. Markety Livestock. PORTLAND, Ore., Jan. 27. (;p) Cattle, 25; calves, 10; quotably steady. Hogs, 200; steady. Sheep and lambs, 560; steady.
