Bennett To Go South Having been
called to Pasadena by the death of a
near relative, Rev. Alexander Geo,
Bennett will leave on the Shasta
Monday evening for the southern
city, he stated Saturday. Reverend
Bennett is pastor of the First Meth
odist church here.
Arrives Today Mrs. E. O. Rease of
Sacramento is expected at her home
in Talent today, to visit her father,
and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton
Carey. Mr. Carey, who has been seri
ously ill for several weeks, was re
ported in about the same condition
yesterday. Mrs. Carey was a business
visitor in Medford Satorday.
Accident Reported Reports were
filed at the city police station yes
terday on the accident involving the
cars driven by H. R. Meusei of 220
North Holly street and W. S. Doty
of 208 Hamilton. The collision oc
curred at the corner of Sixth and
Central avenues at seven o'clock Frt
day evening, the reports show.

Expected Today Miss Donna Earle,
who has been visiting her parents in
Los Angeles over the holidays, is ex

She is an instructor in the Eagle

Fined $10 George C. Wright was
fined $10 in city court Saturday
morn lag for defective brakes. He was
arrested Friday afternoon at the
corner of Fifth and Central. The fine
was suspended by Judge A. D. Curry.

Robert Kent, who Is suffering from
pneumonia, In Weiser, Idaho. Kent

who had been ill for a long time. She
died at her home In Eugene Friday.

Meet on Monday Roosevelt" ' Girl
Scout troop, of which Miss Vera
Humphreys Is leader, will meet Mon
day evening at 6:30 o'clock at Scout
headquarters on East Main street, it
was announced yesterday. All mem
bers of the troop are urged to at
tend, as important matters are to be
discussed.
Carries Pictures The latest edition
of the Union Oil bulletin, which Is
distributed throughout the world
where the products are sold, carries
two pictures of Crater Lake one on
the Inside of the front cover, and the
other on the Inside of the back cover.
The photo In the front shows a beau
tiful view of Wizard Island and Hill
man's peak, hile the photograph in
the back shows the large lodge In
mid-winter, with a great depth of
snow surrounding It.
Astoria Postoffice
Contract Awarded
WASHINNGTON, Jan. 7. (JP)
The treasury today awarded the con
tract for construction of a new post
office at Oregon City to the Dougan
Hammond Construction Co. of Full
land. The bid was $73,587 and the
company was given 360 calendar days
to complete the work.

creek yesterday, after they had
pushed to safety a 10-year-old girl
who had broken through thin Ice
while skating.
The dead were Robert Dlckerson,
16: Donald Lattrell, 10, and Sanj
uel Jacobs, 10. The girl was Ruby
Dlckerson, a sister of Robert.
The three were unnble to climb
on the Ice shelf to, which they had
pushed the girl.
