At Sacred Heart Little Elaine Hodgson, six weeks old, whose par ents reside In the Applegate area, a patient at the Sacred Heart hos pital, where she Is receiving treat ment. Articles Stolen Olty police were informed this morning that the of fice of Cole Holmes was entered last night and that money and a num ber of articles were taken from the unlocked safe. Twenty-three dollars was stolen, the report shows, as well as a lady's watch, & man's gold band ring, a Masonic emblem and a lava Her. T Powell ox Cottage Grove, who spent Thanksgiving in Medforj as the guest of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Returns Today-Mrs. wm. J. War ner returned to Medford by .train from Portland this morning, having attended the football game In the north. She was accompanied north by her daughter, Miss Margaret, and they were Joined at Corvallla by her other daughter, Miss Winifred, who is a student at Oregon State college. Fog Causes Accident Automobiles driven by Alvln Greb and Tod Whaley, both of Eagle Point, collided at the Junction of the Central Point and Crater Lake highways at 12:30 o'clock last night. Grab's report, on file at the city police station, states that the fog was so dense the Whaley car was not visible. Guests at Hotels The guests at Medford hotels from Portland include H. O. Allen Is en route from his eastern Oregon home near Pendleton, to Los Angeles, where he plans to partici pate in the national championship play-offs. B. Humphry represented the Red Cross today at the luncheon of the Allied Welfare association at the Hotel Medford, and reported that Jackson county is still far short of her quota In the annual roll-call drive. The total reported by Mr. Humphrya was $306455. This amount does not Include returns from sev eral Granges and other organizations about the county. The quota for this year la $9000. The Klwanla club will recanvass the city to recheck the cards from which donations have not yet been received. Report on the county relief work was given today by Mrs. A. E. Reames, who showed that there are 34 widow indigents in the county, receiving $10 a month, and over 70 regular indi gents with children. One hundred people have been sent out on county road work and 150 requisitions were filed during the past 13 days. She also reported 1700 dependents in the county and 6500 workers registered during the fruit season. Miss Mildred Carlton, president of the Jackson "County Public Health asoclatton, reported that there were 38 children examined at the recent clinic, and urged all people to sup port the annual sale of tuberculosis seals. The budget of the county health unit, she stated, Is $4500. Mrs. R. E. Green reported on the Girl Scout work, stating that the organization la getting along very well with a paid secretary and two volunteer leaders. The Parent-Teacher organization reported that 35 chil dren are being served hot lunches. Miss Margaret Kerr of the Y. W. O. A. reported helpful classes being conducted to supply amusement for working girl Report on the Lions' community relief kitchen was made by Officer George J. Prescott, who announced that 389 people were fed the first week and that tickets to be exchanged for labor are being sold all persons who wish to give meal tickets to the hungry in pref erence to money. Mrs. Sydney Richardson spoke to the association, condemning motion pictures which show cruelty to ani mals. It was announced that the Active club is sponsoring the Boy Scout troop at Berrydale and has donated $5 a month toward the community health house there. Therefore, the American plan would allow England to deposit her 30,000,000 pounds and convert them Into dollars aa favorable aa exchange rates permit, always with the guar antee that America would get $95, 000,000 regardless of how many pounds It took. In this way foreign nations would have time In which to obtain dollars deposited In American banks at fa vorable rates of exchange, Instead of having to take whatever the prevail ing rate was on the day payment was due.
