dance brought from the audience at
th Craterlan theater laat night the
greateat applause accorded an artlat
appearing In thle city in many yeara,
left thla morning for Klamath rails
with nil niece, Mlse Greta Lauder,
and their troupe of talented enter
tainer!. Leaving In the city bla famoua con
trlbutlon to the world, the desire to
laugh, to live and to "sing away your
troublea," he and hla "wee bonnle's"
atay here will be remembered by all
who heard blra for a long, long time.
The alnoerlty and simplicity which
dominated his program last night,
arousing In all present cause to laugh
"with him," more than "at him," was
also felt In all his private Interviews
with local folk, who entertained the
famoua Scotchman yesterday.
In the afternoon he motored to Big
Rock lodge, river home of Wm. I.
Isaacs. In the party were Sir Harry's
niece. Miss Greta Lauder, James B.
Cooke of Seattle, who met them on
the train coming Into Medford Sun
day, and Mr. Isaacs and son, Dick.
The grounds of the lodge were vis
ited and the beauty of the Rogue and
all the scenery between here and
there, won the enthusiastic praise
of the guests, who were especially
fond of the Table Rocks, describing
them as "Just like the Table moun
tains of Scotland."
The ducks and turkeys which In
habit the grounds at Big Rock lodge
were also much enjoyed by Sir Harry
and his niece, who entertained their
hosts with stories of Scotland and
the home, which Is being built for
them now, Just 17 miles from Glas
gow. Departing from the turkey pens,
Sir Harry gathered up a "bouquet of
turkey feathera" and brought them
with him Into the city,
The Rogue River Valley golf course
was also visited by Sir Harry and
several of the valley's most prominent
country homes.
In the evening with his niece, he
was guest of Rev. and Mrs. W. J.
Kowell, with whom the Lauder have
' been .closely associated for many
years, Mrs. Howell's slater being one
of the Royal nurses In London, and
tha one. who cared for Sir Harry's
son. who was killed In the World war,
Their last visit with the famous co
median, preceding their meeting yes
terday, was seven years ago In Aber
deen, Wash, At ' that time he was
accompanied by his wife and her
brother, Tom, who traveled with them
for many years. About five yeara ago
death took Mrs, Lauder from the
company, and last August while Sir
Harry was singing, as only ha can
sing, "She's a Daisy," Tom dropped
dead back stage.

DIES ON STREET
Mrs. Anna A. Hudgtns, 70, of Ash
land. Where she sold flowers on the
streets In the summer and was known
to scores, dropped dead on a street
of that city laat evening. Death was
attributed to heart failure. She lived
alone In humble quarters.
The aged woman was walking past
the home of T. W. Hill on Chambers
street when stricken. Hill, watch
ing from the window, saw her topple
to the sidewalk. Hill rushed to her
aide, but life was extinct. Deputy
Coroner H. 0. Stock wsa summoned,
and took charge.
Btate police this morning were re
key, thought to be a resident of Port
key, though to be a resident of Port
land. A sister, name unknown, Is
Wrought to be living In Flint, Mich.
The state police searched the two
room abode of the unfortunate wom
an. It was filled with furniture; and
a large number of old newspapers,
. Mrs. Hudgtns was a resident of
Ashland tor several years. Little is
known of her past, or former elr

low scores, and a traveling prize will
also be given. Prises are also to
be given on the month's total scores,

parent manipulative trend forced the
price of cube butter on the Portland
Produce Exchange 4 to 6c lb. higher
for the week's Initial aeaalon. It waa
not only a sensational advance which
was the greateat individual boost ever
given values In Portland at one time,
but sent the market here to the
highest figures In the entire country.
The market appeared manipulative
from the start and Indicated the In
fluence of holders of storage goods
wno are trying to force greater pro
fits In their direction.
Insofar as supply and demand was
concerned, there appeared no call for
any such movement of values.
The advance of 4-5c In the price
of butterfat here, put the buying
valuea not only to the highest of the
session here to date, but to the high

PORTLAND, Nov. 32. (AP) The
turkey market was erratic today,
prices appearing to reflect but little
change from the previous day. Best
turkeys sold around 16 to 17o a
pound for hens and toms, although
the Utter were mostly at the low
mark. Demand continued best for
hens and small tons which were not
really plentiful.
' SAN PRANCISCO, Nov. 22. (AP)
Turkey prices dropped today to a
basis of IS-I60 a pound wholesale,
and were offered by some retailers as
low as 19c. Prices were down 3 to 6c
a pound.
George Maklns, manager of the
California Turkey Growers association
said in all his 36 years' experience In
turkey markets he had never seen
such low prices.

NEW YORK, Nov. 33, (AP) The
cause of higher prices attracted a
feeble following In today's stock mar
ket, and after the Hat had edged a
little higher, prices slipped back late.
The close found net changes largely
of negligible proportions, with seve
ral Issues fractionally lower. The final
tone was easy. Transfers approxi
mated only half a million shares.
