Mrs. Amelia Elmer of Alhambra, Cal., former resident of Jacksonville, re cently suffered bad burns on face and band by explosion of a ga& stove in the O. E. S. kitchen at Al hambra. 1 Mr. and Mrs. Holman Peters and little daughter, Elizabeth, of Alham bra, Cel., were calling on friends here Sunday. Holman spent his boy hood days here. He is a nephew of Oust Newbury. Mr. and Mrs. E. R. White and family have moved back to Jackson ville after having made their home in Med ford for the past year. Mr. and Mrs. W. O.. Johnson of Merrill were here Monday visiting their daughter, Aletha CantrsU. Mrs. Otto Nledermeyer and chil- dren, Joyce, Charlotte Ann and Rich ard, visited friends here Sunday. Mrs. John Dunnlngton, who has been visiting relatives here, returned Sunday to her home In Klamath Falls. Her daughter. Miss Margaret, who Is in nurse's training at the Sa cred Heart hospital in Med ford, re turned with her for a week's vacation. Wesley Hartman, ill at hts borne for several days with Influenza, is Improving. Dunnlngton took a truck load of apples to Klamath county Wednesday, returning with a load of Klamath potatoes. Miss Winifred Backus Is reported 111 at her home this week. , Mrs. Nora Klelnhammer returned Sunday to her home in Medford- after a two weeks' visit with her daugnter, Mrs. Ernest Rogers. Mrs. A. R. Wymore of Long Beach, Cal., spent Wednesday with Mrs. H. O. Miller. Maxlne Klelnhammer of Medford la visiting her sister, Mrs. Ernest Rog ers, this week. Joseph M. Shoemaker, former resi dent of Jacksonville, passed away at San Francisco, Cal., November 11, at which place he had gone for treat ment at the Coffey Institute. Mra. Alice Ulrlch and daughter, Mrs. H. K. Hanna, and Mrs. Reis Chapman visited Miss Helen Ulrich at Ashland Tuesday. Mcsdames Alice Ulrich, Leona, Hanna, Nell Ftck, Anna Coleman and Maude Knight attended Monday af ternoon a meeting of the Jackson County Health association In Phoe nix. At this meeting an Interesting talk was giviu by Miss Mildred Carl ton, president of the association, on her trip to Alabama, and Georgia. The Presbyterian church Is prepar ing special music for services Sun day morning, November 27. Mr. St. Clair, who Is mining on Mrs. Fred Haight's property, spent the week in Klamath Falls receiving medical treatment for an Infected finger. He returned to Jacksonville Tuesday. Miss Carmen Dorotfty is working on special night duty for a patient at the Community hospital. Mrs. Charley Dorothy, who has been ill for some time, is Improving. M. A. Kennon returned home Wed nesday from the Community hospital in Medford, where he recently under went an operation for appendicitis. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Ike Coffman. a baby boy, weight 6V . pounds, at their home In South Jacksonville, Wednesday evening, November 18. Dr. and Mrs. Harold Glllls, who have made their home at. the Jack sonville sanitarium, have moved to the Ralph Marks home on South Fourth street. FERN VALLEY, Nov. 18. (Spl.) Men of the nelghborhod cooperated in painting the interior of the school .house over the week end. Rob Furry was In the community Sunday morning. Mrs. Delllla Stevens Meyer of Med' ford called on her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Stevens, Sunday. Quests of Mrs. W. J. Ferns and baby Sunday were the baby's two grandmothers, Mrs. A. B. Perns and Mrs. Stone, also Mra. Hughes snd Mrs. Marshall. Several of the community attend ed the funeral of Mrs. Rose at Med ford Sunday afternoon. Mra. Ray Ward's father, Mr. Morse of Valley View, who has been quite ill, is reported resting more com fortably and feeling a little better. Mrs. Ernest Beer and Mrs. Mollle Wltcher called on Mrs. L. H. Hughes Thursday afternoon. Wei born Beeson of Ashland brought a buzzsaw and cut wood on his wood lot here the last of the week. Little Harley Lee Wilson of Ash land, grandson of Harley Dunn of this community, was operated on at Medford Tuesday for appendicitis.. He is getting along fairly well. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Marshall, Joyce and Patricia Marshall and BUI Ray called on Mr. and Mrs, J. G. Eldrldge at Phoenix Friday evening. Mr. Swisher was also a guest. Ray Brownrlgg was here Sunday, collecting material for the rodeo at the Phoenix gym Friday evening. Literary scheduled for Friday, No-' vember 18, was postponed until No vember 25. because of the carnival at Phoenix. John, BUI, Joe and Mr. Kantor were in Medford Wednesday. Lem Hughes, Mrs. Ed Marshall and children, Joyce and Patricia, spent the day Tuesday In Sams Valley, vis iting Mrs, M. r. Hughes and E. P. Hughes. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Carr and chil dren returned Sunday from a visit at Cottage Grove, with Mr. Can's par ents. They reported an enjoyable trip.. Mrs. Noah Chandler la recovering from her recent operation and has been removed from the Medford Community hospital In Medford to her home south of Phoenix. Mrs. Lula Hamlin and son Marvin left Monday for California, where Mrs. Hamlin trill visit her brother. Mr. Marlow, Indefinitely. Her son will obtain employment. Mra. E. O. Rease accompanied her husband, en route to Sacramento Saturday, as far Treka, returning to the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. Carey, where she expect to remain until her father has recov ered or Is able to accompany her to their home at Sacramento.
