Roadway Closed The Crater Lake
national park announced today that
the road to the lake was temporarily
blocked, there being 16 Inches of
snow In the park, and with rain fall
ing at the present time. Motorists
are being advised not to make the
trip to the parti, by either the west
or aouth entrance.

The bureau of Immigration here to
day announmed that Malcolm Mac
Klppo, Canadian, of Klamath Falls
has been deported on a charge of
having illegally entered the United
States. He was arrested several
weeks ago at Newport. '
MacKlllop entered legally and en
gaged In the jewelry business at
Klamath Palls. He then returned to
Canada and brought his family and
his brother's family Into the United
States, using allegedly illegal meth
oda of entering the country because
of difficulty In getting the families
through.
The entire 'group went to Newport
and all were taken Into custody. All
except McKlllop were permitted to
return to Canada without deporta
tion proceedings.

shore harbors over the week-end,

for speed they had the promise of a
group of New York bootleggers of
bonuses to themselves and members
of their crews If the liquor were land
ed In time to meet the Thanksgiving
holiday demand.

alleged to have Journeyed to Wash
ington state on a "drive out" permit,
and to have returned a week later
with' new Washington licenses.

(AP) Withholding all comment ex
cept to declare Vint he has not con
fessed to the killing, Jesse K. Cous
ins, 48, charged with slaying two
prohibition officers, was confined In
the county Jail here today while
federal and county police questioned
him about the shooting and hla
flight.
Cousins was captured last night
while he slept In .his cabin near this
city. State and federal posses had
sought him since September 30,
when two federal officers were shot
while raiding hla ranch home. Bal
lard W. Turner of Seattle died In
stantly. E. B. Vlaslch of Taooma
died several days later.

have no effect on Saturday'a combat,

not be at all weakened if Swanson
la taken out of the line. "If there
is any question about It, he will be
taken out. But that won't Interfere

one student from the talented group
for special recognition, the one boy
in the class. Prltz Guetzlaff, received
the greatest applause. His beauty of
touch and unusual tones brought
from the keys by It, was the subject
of repeated favorable comment.
Each young player contributed
much to the evening's program, ex
hibiting a thorough understanding of
music highly complimentary to the
Instructor, who gave an Informal
sketch of each pupil's history In mu
sic aa she Introduced her class.
Several participants In the recital
have studied music under Mra. Wtl
lett for but a brief period, but each
showed unusual progress.
The program waa played on the
New Baldwin Masterpiece grand,
which also added to the tone quality
of the compositions.
The Piano Bhoppe was attractively
arranged for the occasion by Mrs. H.
O. Purucker and formed a strong
setting conducive to the production
and apprecltlon of good muslo.

the new year, recently completed b7 j
the budget committee for presents- !
tlon and adoption. While drastic cuts
have been made in salarlea of city
employes and operating expenses I
there will be little reduction In the
budget total for the coming year. It
Is understood, due to tax delinquen
cies to be accounted for.
The recommendations of the budget
committee include a provision for a
fund for emergency relief work, which
will amount to about eaooo. This
money will be expended to create
work for the unemploved and no
dole aystem will be encouraged by
me city government.
Following the presentation of the
budget to the council tonight It will
ba ready for publication.
