"Southern Oregon la practically cer

according to G. M. ureen, chairman
of the Save S. O. N. 8. association of
Ashland.
"Tha normal at Ashland la progress

this year that la higher than laat year.
Thla Includes many students from
every section of southern Oregon.
"If the normal la moved to Eugene,
these students, and those In tha Mon
mouth and La Grande arena, will be
forced to go to the teachers college
at Eugene. Thla will be more costly
and more Inconvenient to the stu
dents, particularly In southern and
eastern Oregon. Since the minimum
cost per student at Ashland Is only
$330 per year, while the minimum
coat at Eugene and Corvallla la S374,

the Inconvenience and extra coete to
the teacher training students caused
by the change to Eugene, the conver

into a Junior college la the most dan

southern Oregon standpoint.

BUTTER AND EGG
PORTLAND, Ore.. Oct. 38. (AP)
There appears more talk than factn
In regard to the shortage of butter
along the Pacific alone. Storage In
terest, with an eye to business, are
not at all alow about forcing the
price of fresh stock to a a higher
point In an effort to secure greater
profits on their ice house goods.
Despite the very heavy withdiaw
sls of butter from store along the
Pacific slope, there Is atlll a very
considerable volume of stock In sight.
The latent figures ahow totals of 3,
373,000 pounds In the six leading
markets of the coast compared with
a,35ft,000 pounds for thla same pe
riod a year ago. The figures for the
country generally show a like condi
tion. .
There remains a rather firm tone
In market for eggs with practically
no tVianges In the price list. Tne
use or storage egga la still gaining.
Price of spring chickens here la
the lowest In th country and much
the lowest along the coast. Despite
this there la very little demand nd
the movement la restricted. Htna
are In favor.
