Burgherites Display Poten
tial Power Against In
vaders Local Goal Never
In Danger Need Polish
Mfdford hlgft school's , football
team defeated weed, Calif., 87 to 0
Saturday afternoon at the Junior
high school grounds. The Burgher
melaters showed little In the way
of plays but plenty of potential
power when the teamwork la smooth
ed out. Penalties and fumbles were
costly In the first quarter for the
locals. The game was played In near
fnld-summer heat. The home squad
loafed In the second and fourtA
quarters and second string men were
substituted.
The visitors showed a flash of
strength when they made two first
downs In succession with forwsrd
passes. Flchtner went across with
the first touchdown iat lu the first
quarter. In the next period Oallnskt
with long end runs, and Flchtner
with off-tackle drives, carried the
ball across.
Open Third With Rush
Medford started the third quarter
with a rush, and scored two touch
downs again with Oallnskl and
Flchtner carrying the ball. Laldley,
end, snared a long forward pass to
core the fifth touchdown of the
game. Oallnskl went across for the
final score, after Medford had been
penalized twice for offside.
The Burghermetsters waged a
steady and consistent battle through
out, Interspersed with fumbles and
poor passing from center. Kunzman
substituted for Bennett at end, play
ed a spectacular game. Flchtner,
Oallnskl, Kunsman and Laldley
tarred for the home squad. The
entire team showed the lack of pre
cision and polish that will come with
couple of games undsr their belt.
Goal Never Dangered
Medford's goal was never In dan
ger and practically the entire game
was played In Weed territory. Med
ford completed seven out of 13 for
ward passes, Bklnner dropping two.
Medford gained three times the
yardage of the foe, who opened an
aerial attack In the closing minutes,
that netted them three good gains.
The Medford line was strong and
heavy.
. Near the end of both halves the
second atrlng took up the burden.
Next Saturday Medford plays
Treks, here.
