Unlike hundreds of "cowboy'' sing ers entertaining via radio and stage . and who have never seen a horse, the Oregon Loggers are real loggers and rough, ready backwoodsmen every one. And as It happens, all are fine musicians and all sing the tunes they sang around the bunk- t bouse lues at night lbs good old' tunes that stir the heart as none other can. "Rigger filim" yodels his numbers, Just as he once yodelled calls to the "whistle-punk" as he guided the huge logs of the Oregon forests down the hillside. Every logger Is a real woodsman, snd Ole, when the stage Is lsrge enough, proves It by throwing huge sxes into logs. Like the boys them selves, the act is rough and without polish because one does not find polish In a logging camp. The log gers will entertain Holly fans Wednesday. Dolores Del Rio Wins Audience At Craterian Picture A remsrkable film, rich tn enter tainment, and so colorful that It ex udes the exotic fragrance of the South Seas, has been made from the famous stage classic, "Bird of Paradise." The finished result, guided In Its transformation from stage to cellu loid by the genius of King Vldor. opened yesterday at the Craterian theater, with Dolores Del Rio as the promttlve, trusting Luana, with Joel McCrea as the smitten hero, Johnny Baker. This Is the film for which RKO-Radio Pictures sent a company to the Hawaiian Islands to get au thentic background. The scenic pho tography offers Inspired compositions of tropical foliage, mountain, sky and sea that are breath-taking In their beauty. The play la a simple story of a love that transcends all religions and laws. There Is an intangible something to this tragic story of Luana who falls hopelessly in love with a white man. and as hopelessly sacrifices that love, that demands a setting tn sympathy with the sublime character of her sacrifice. Prison Picture At Holly Scores Hit A powerful story enacted on the screen by a group of outstanding character actors make "The Last Mile" now at the Holly one of the most dra matic pictures that has appeared in Medford for a long time. Having a powerful story to tell, the auVior, John Wcxley, loses no time In get ting to the point and when there dwells upon it In such a way that it will not soon be forgotten. Preston Foster, In the role of "killer" Mears, a role that has put several men Into stardom, succeeds in making his part so real that one finds himself moving with his com mands. 4 Stated Convocation of Cra ter Lake Chapter No. 32, R.
