Employment for a number of the women of Medford who are In need of work has been made possible by the fact that the wonderful mother of-pearl carving "The Lord's Last Sup per" will be exhibited In Medford for another week. ( Any unemployed woman who Is In terested la aaked to meet Mr. John Korenlan. the owner of the carving, at 10 a. m.. Monday on the me&zanine floor of the Medford Hotel and the liberal commission plan for the sale of tickets will be explained and ter ritory allotted.' All applicants should be of neat appearance and courteous bearing. , Nothing like this work of art has ever before been shown here, and Medford people are fortunate to have an opportunity to see Vila marvelous work which will be entered in the World's Fair at Chicago next year. The carving is 30x33 Inches In alte and over -170 years old. having been made In Jerusalem by a monk, who was 37 years at the task. The carv ing Is considered to be valued at many thousands of dollars, although as In all art It can not be valued In dollars and cent. This week only, Mr. Korenlan. own er of the masterpiece, will be on the mezzanine floor of the Hotel Medford each afternoon from 3:30 until 4 and from 7:30 until 9 eacrt evening. He will tell the fascinating story of the making of the carving and of his travels In many countries of the world In search of this art gem and of Its loss and eventual recovery. Along with the pearl carving, he exhibits a remarkable d.esk and chair. Inlaid with more than 05,000 separ ate pieces, which were once used In the harem of an Egyptian bey ' or prince, also, a pearl Inlaid Morrocan arm chair which was at one time used In the court of Abyssinia. Another very beautiful article to be shown ts a tall Damascan lamp made of hand hammered brass, cut In mar velous filigree pattern. The whole collection constitutes one of the most valuable and interesting exhibits ever to be shown In southern Oregon and It ts hoped that every one In the city will take this opportunely to see these loveiy wings. Following are expressions of many who have viewed the carving: "The mother, of pearl carving of 'The Lord's Last Supper' Impresses me with a sense of awe and re vera nee In the portrayal of this beautiful and spiritual Impression of that signific ant event in the life of our Lord." Rev. w. H. Eaton. "The carved reproduction of The Last Supper' Is In a class all by It self, not to be compared with any other piece of art. The details of the painting followed to the minut est of details, while the lace-work carved frame has been designed and ! executed by none but a master artist." I Miss Jane Snedlcor. "Most beautiful and a really won- 1 derful art exhibit." Mrs. Geo, An dre wa. "One of the finest pieces of art I have ever seen. A sermon In Itself. Everyone should see It." Rev. W. R. Balrd. "I do hot profess to be a Judge of art, but X think the carving a wonder ful work. E. H. Hedrlck. "A marveloun work of Inestlmatable value."- Dr. A. L. Lantls. "Citizens of Medford have a rare privilege to-view auch a wonderful work of art In their own city and should take advantage of the oppor tunity." wm. 8. Bolger. "In all my travels throughout the world, I have never seen anything so exceptional In workmanship, beauty and design. I consider this hand carving really worth seeing." Mrs. H. D. McCaskey. "I .have never in my life ever seen anything like It and' consider the carving a very rare and beautiful work of art." Rev. Father Black. "A marvelously beautiful example of oriental craftsmanship." Thomas Swem. "An infinite amount of patience and. love expressed in this life work." J. C. Barnes. "No one can be disappointed In viewing this marvelously beautiful pearl hard-carving of 'The Lord's Last Supper." Rev. A. O. Bennett. Rev. Johnson To Discuss Need Of God's Salvation (Contributed." Here are some of the divisions of the subject, "What It Means to Be Lost," that will be discussed by Rev. J. M. Johnson In the Sunday even ing service at the Federated church, Central Point. "The whole of mankind, carnally minded, un regenerated, are counted last. Why?" "The mystery of Ufa earthly ex istence Is a time of trial-testing- op portunity. If you live you must give an accounnt of yourself." "Character Is the only thing thst will endure. Just what you are will appear In the end, and not what you have," ( "What you ARE means more In your relation to actual living than what you have, or how long you live." "There are two. outside forces in fluences, which affect our lives. De termined, subtle, powerful, they bid for the actual control of our lives." "No life can be finally lost vlthout rejecting Ood's salvation; and no life Is saved without a definite, per sonal acceptance of this salvation." COAL $13.50 per ton. Use Royal Utah Coal.
