Crater lake. Mr. Drenkhahn has been
an employe of the MacMorran and
Wash bur ne store in Eugene for many
years.

Visit Crater Lake En route to
Crater lake as a part of their west
ern tour, 125 students from the Uni
versity of Wichita stopped In Med
ford yesterday, where the buses were
registered according to the state law.
The buses, registered to Wm. M. Gold
stein of Wichita, were driven by
Horace M. Pardum, H. Millard White
and Theodore O. Heer.
First Oregon Trip O. E. Goodman,
who arrived In Medford late yester
day afternoon from Los Angeles,
stated that, although he had worn
out 11 cars In California, he had
never been In Oregon before. He
was en route to Spokane on his vaca
tion trip, and registered his auto
mobile at the state bureau In charge
of Lee C. Gar lock.
From Mining Congress The Eu
gene chamber of commerce has an
nounced that Saturday,- August 27, a
Western Oregon Mining congress will
be organized in that city, and a large
number of mining people in Marion,
Linn, Lane and Douglas counties are
expected to attend. Those Interested
in mining In this district are also
being Invited to attend by the Eu
gene office.

To Star Gulch C. T. Flynn of the
forest service offices In Portland, and
Mr. Weeks, representative of the Wil
lamette Erstead company, yesterday
made a trip to the Star Gulch road
in the Applegate, where a new trail
builder Is being placed on a tractor.

views and events of local Interest,
was enjoyed by the B. Y. P. U. of the
First Baptist church last Sunday
evening. The films were furnished
by the Copco and the machine, which
,waa operated by a member of the
class, by Koke -Chapman company.

on the banks of the Rogue, arrived In
Medford on the Shasta today with

Reddy has been working on a motion
picture lot in the movie capital for
several weeks, and Early and Edmls
ton attended the Olympics. They re
turned to their homes here yester

nan, resident manager of the Phoenix
Indemnity company, with headquar
ters in Seattle, is in Medford today,
calling on local agents. He is ac
companied by J. S. Sheppard, resi
dent manager at the San Francisco

Visit Crater Lake Misses H., C,
snd A. Bergeron, three charming
women of New Orleans, La., who have
been on a tour of the northwest, ar
rived In Medford late yesterday after
noon from Crater lake, and left on
the Shasta last evening for Los An
geles, en route home. They visited
southern Canadian points, and spent
three weeks In Port Townsend, Wash.
While at the lake they made the trip
to the water's edge and reported a
pleasant Journey. At the park they
met another southerner, Shelby
Southard of Alabama, guest of "On
to Oregon, Inc." who visited In Med
ford Wednesday. The trio expressed
hopes of returning to Oregon.

According to information available
this morning at the office of H. G.
Moore, labor agent for the unem
ployed, there are not many local resi
dents who are qualified pear packers
at present unemployed. Only eight
applications have been made since
notices appeared in yesterday's Mill
Tribune, and employment has been
secured for some of them. Mr. Moore
is anxious to get In touch with all
local residents who have had previ
ous experience In packing pears, and
all such are requested to call at his
office in the city hall.
A number of local packing houses
have indicated their willingness to
cooperate with the ajwoctatlon of the
unemployed in securing Job for lo
cal people, and It Is in order to se
cure the names and qualifications of
unemployed packers that Mr. Moore
has requested Interviews.
