To Visit Parents Miss Florence McFarlane of Portland arrived In Medford by train this morning from the north to spend two weeks vaca tion visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. W. McFarlane. Registers Car Arriving in Medford Sunday from Hlllsboro, Cal., Joseph Ohevlgny, chauffeur for Nlon A. Tucker of the southern city, yesterday registered the station wagon he was driving at the out-of-state bureau on South Riverside avenue. Injured Boys Improved Jesse Wal ton, who sustained serious Injuries last week In an auto wreck on the Butte Falls road, was reported In a much Improved condition today. He is now conscious and believed out of danger. Delbert Tlngleaf, who re ceived a bad fracture in each leg In the same accident, was also reported resting easily at the Sacroci Heart hospital today. Attend Olympic Games Miss Ar lene Hay and Mildred Beeson are among southern Oregon la ns In Los Angeles this week for the Olympic games. They left Friday by motor for the south. Miss Hay will con tinue to San Diego to be guest of friends for several weeks before the opening of school at Central Point, where she is a member of the fac ' Back to Hospital Lester Payne, who underwent a major operation some time ago and was removed to his home, suffered a relapse a few days ago and has been returned to the Sacred Heart hospital from his Sams Valley ranch. Mrs. Payne, who also underwent an operation for ap pendicitis, has been removed from the hospital to her home and Is get ting along nicely. Anders Return Home Mr. and Mrs. Ray Anders and children returned to Klamath Falls yesterday after spend ing several days here as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Will Hansen, at their orchard home near the city. Tremalne Arrested Ralph Tre- malne was arrested by city police last evening on a warrant Issued May 3. Tremalne Is charged with participa tion in the robbery of. the Rogue River Valley Golf club several months ago. Flero on Trip Al Flero, represen tative of an adding machine company with headquarters In this city, has returned from a holiday at Crescent City, and spent yesterday transact ing business In Grants Pass and Ash land. Volunteers Meet Twenty of the 94 volunteers of the Medford fire de partment met at the city fire hall last night for regular monthly drill. She never took a dose of medicine until long after she was married, and she takes It now against her will Mrs. Marthlnda Ellen Whit lock. wn0 celebrated her 03rd birthday a few days ago at her home on the Oak Grove road, stated yesterday in ex planation of how she has kept in the running with John D. Rocke feller. She has never played golf, but she has ridden many horses across the fields of Iowa, and finds life well worth the living as she anticipates completion of her century, Just seven years distant. ! No, I have never voted,' she added yesterday, suppressing a slight chuckle with a quick motion of band to Up and an added gleam In her deep eet blue eyes. "Just never any place where It was being done until I became too old. Never cared much about politics anyway." She leaned back In her rocker, against the dark wood of which her silver hald form ed a lovely pattern. Would I like an alrplLne ride? Goodness, no. I'd be afraid, I ex pect. I'm quite satisfied to stay the ground." Mrs. Whltlock clutched the arms of her chair with two long, slender hands, which have known work on the farm and work In the city, then turned to smile at her little grand-daughter, who Is one of 11, who adds much Interest to her days. "I used to read a great deal," she continued In review of her hob bles, "but my eyes bother me now, especially In the hot weather. I have always been healthy though. Spent most of my life on the farm, and I've lived In many states, Iowa. Indiana, Illinois, Kansas, Colorado and Oregon." Mrs. Whltlock has lived In Med ford 13 years. She was born in Johnson county, Indiana, and mar ried In the east when she was 21. Seven children were born to the Whltlocks and the little silver-haired woman of gentle voice has outlived five of them as well as her husband, she said yesterday. "I have Just two sons left, Charles, who lives at Hlllsboro and Allen, with whom I live here." Mrs. Whltlock also has 11 grand children and 14 great grandchildren. Her two sisters and one brother have been dead for several years. She has already reached the age of her mother, S3, and surpassed the record of her father, who died, while In his eighties.
