Governor Meier's moratorium for motors expires Sunday at midnight, so tomorrow Is the final day for procurement. Many motorists expect to wait un til later so they may come under the part-year provisions. Reports from California Thursday said that, despite recognition of the governor's moratorium, in Modoc and Lassen counties Oregonlans with old license plates were still being forced to buy California licenses on the the ory that If Oregonlans bad funds to travel they had funds for new li censes. Oregon autolsts were detain ed Wednesday In Butte Valley, Siski you county, and given the choice of purchasing a California license oi leaving their machines In a garage The California license Is void In their home state which adds to the confu sion. While no official word has come from Salem, It Is understood from re liable sources that enforcement of the license laws will be left to the dis cretion of the commanding officers of the state police In the various districts. This means that If an autolst needs his car for work, he will be granted leniency for a certain period, but if the car is used for pleasure trlpa he will be directed to make a license purchase. In every Instance the car owner will have to show conclusive proof that he Is In financial straits and that the auto Is vital In his occupation. Autolsts of flnanlal means who have been hesitant about the pir- : chase of a license, and unlicensed autos. used by young folks for pleas ure trips will be held to a strict accounting. In the same drive, California li censed cars belonging to Oregonlans and employed in Oregon, or voting in Oregon, will be directed to procure a 1033-1933 Oregon license or store their car.
