Rainbow Gibson to tntltltd to the

tellsr of extraordinary fish tales by
the Ancient and Honorable aoctety of
Piscatorial Prevaricators. Thu la his
latest one:
Wednesday, between 10 a. m. and
13 o'clock noon, he was casting aeross
the run Just beyond the big rock in
the middle of the river, familiar land
mark to every fisherman who fishes
Pierce riffle, Just below We-Ask-0
Inn.
After an extraordinary fine cast .1
was electrified by a whale of a strike.
When the fish swirled and flashed
away Into the rough water, he knew
he was tied to a big on. The reel
aoreamed and its rasping whirr could
be plainly beard over the roar of the
rapids he saw hU line disappear
from the spool at an ciarmlng speed.
In trying to check the uiad rush he
burned his fingers 800 feet of line
faded away In a flash and he had
to run down alongside the swift water
as fast as his legs would take him.
The fish made a few spectacular leaps
Into the air and the sun reflected a
rainbow hue from his Iridescent sides
steelhead of majestic proportions.
Then, alas, the line slumped Into
that sickening clack that tells of a
lost fish and Rainbow began deject
edly to retrieve the line to see how
much tsekle the fish had left him.
Suddenly the line again became taut
with an Increasing new tension. The
fish was still on and the fight began

With great care the fish was guid

along the swift run. Rainbow took
line as swiftly as the reel would work
lert for another flashing run If
the royal steelhead made another
dash for liberty. Yard by yard the
line earn to the reel nearer and
nearer came the fish to the beach.
The prize was now within a few feet
of the water's edge by a skillful
coup he would soon be floundering
on the wet gravel.

this? Imagine Rainbow's eonsterna

that he had seen with hi own eyes

distinct signs of Improvement under
the guidance of Marty McManus.
With Smead Jolley and Roy John

winning a fair percentage of thulr
games. They have won 10 of their
last 23 contest.
Larry Boerner, Boston rookie.
Tnursday held the Yankees to two
hits In seven Innings. It was only
the second start for Boerner, who for

Louis Cardinals,
As well as he hurled, Boerner has

last two frames, In which the Sox
came from behind to win, 3 to 3.
The Washington Senators regained
fourth place in the American league.
