1TSGE TWO MEDFORD MAIL TRIBUXE, 3IEDFORD, OREGON, FRIDAY, JULY 22, 1932. TO Streulng th urgent need tn Md ford for a co-operative program of relief and support of the Community Cheat In Medford during the coming year, Biulgn J. R. Pack gave hia farewell addreiia before members of the Allied Welfare association at luncheon at the Hotel Medford to day. Ensign Pack leaves soon for Pocatello, Idaho, to accept the trans fer of Salvation Army headquarters, Indications of necessity for even more relief work during the next winter, were listed by Ensign Pack, who atated that organizations must work together on the problem and are easily able to do so through the Allied Welfare association. The need for providing work wholesome recreation for children of the unemployed In Medford also brought out by Ensign Pack In a statement to the effect that there Is a definite lack In Medford of provision for children between the ages of 14 and 30, However satisfactory the program of work now being considered by the Medford Association of the Unem ployed and other special agencies for relief of the jobless, there will atlll remain the necessity for Community Chest work. Ensign Park also stated, urging persons who hve not paid their contributions to do so at once. At- the close of his address Ensign Pack expressed great regret at leav ing Medford and a hope that the relief organisation members will carry m In the same spirit they have In the past. He appointed nominating committee composed of Miss Dorothy Mitchell, Miss Lillian Roberta and L, M, Welsenburger, to bring In a list of candidates for. or floes for the coming year at the next meeting, which will be called by Miss Mildred Carlton, Tlce-president of the mtsoclstlon. Mrs. A. E. Reamea, county chair man of the women'a division of Gov ernor Meier's atste committee for relief of the unemployed, was called upon and responded with an expres sion of appreciation of the splendid work done In Medford by Ensign Pack. She assured the association that the organisation she represents, which Is Interested primarily In the conservation of food, will be glad to co-operate with all other relief groups of the city. J. C. Mann, representing the Com munity Cheat, asked for a rising vote In appreciation of Ensign Pack's service here and the response war unanimous. He announced that a meeting of the chest board will be held next Monday In an attempt to ; arrive at a solution of present prob lems and a program for collecting pledges, now in arrears. MUs Carlton, president of the Jackson County Publto Health asso ciation, reminded the guest in at tendance that In order to accomplish anything here during the coming year It Is urgent that each organisa tion be represented at meetings of the Allied Welfare group.
