There were definite algni of agita tion In the Texas and California dele gations, pledged to Speaker Oarner, with Roosevelt figuring as the most likely beneficiary, should a real break come. The Inside circle of convention leaders heard much talk of a combln atlon Involving the vlce-prestdentlal nomination. Both Oarner and William O. McAdoo. chairman of the Califor nia delegation, were mentioned In convention floor gossip as poaslble Ttoe presidential nominees with Roosevelt. Leaders Reek Loophole The adjournment was until 8:30 p. m., but even as they filed out of the coliseum the leaders were carry ing on into private conferences their efforts to arrive at some breakdown which would avert anything like the long1 deadlock eight years ago in Madison Square garden. - Roosevelt's gaina had beerf' steady, small as they were. On the first bal lot he bad 660, on the second 067, and on the third 683. The additions on the second roll call had come from Indiana. Missouri, New York. North Dakota, Ohio and Alaska. On the second ballot he took 24 from Reed In Missouri. 1 from fln.tth In New York, 2 from Whlt in Ohio, and 1 from Smith In Pennsylvania. His loss was a fraction of a vote in North parol! n a and a vote In North Dakota.
