(AP) "Motor vehicle taxes In Oregon were Increased 35 per cent when President Hoover signed the revenue bill," ac cording to Dr. E. B. McDanlel, presi dent of the Oregon State Motor as sociation and chairman of the gov ernor's committee on license fee re vision. "An additional three million dol lars will be paid every year by the Oregon motorists as a result of the various taxes Imposed on the motor ist under this bill. "The largest taxable Item Is fed eral tax of 1 oent per gallon on gaso line, which In Oregon alone will raise $1,740,000 from the motorists. "In addition various excise taxes affecting the motorist have been lev led as follows: "Four per cent on passenger oars. "Three per oent on trucks. "Two per oent on accessories and parts. "Four cents per gallon on lubricat ing oil. "Three cents per pound on tires. "Five cents per pound on tubes. "It Is estimated that the rubber tax alone will add 60 cents to the cost of a small-sized tire such as Is used on Fords and Chevrolet. "On the basis of Oregon's 1021 mo tor vehicle purchases of 14,224 pas senger cars and 8,513 trucks, the 4 per oent excise tax on passenger cars will raise $455,160; the S per cent on trucks will raise $046.51; the 3 per oent on accessories will raise $200. 000; the 4 cents per gallon on oil will collect $208,800; while he tire tax alone will add over $400,000 a total of over three million dollars additional tax that the federal gov ernment will collect from Oregon motorists."
