IffiDFOBB M1ID TRTBTJKE, MEDFORD, OBEGON, TUESDAY, iiPKffi 13, 1932, PXG MVfi ) l. 1 i ) FINAL REGISTRY RUSH ON TODAY Hi II NEAR Final ruah of voters to register for the May 20 primary was underway today in tne clerk a oifice with pros pects that the Jackson county regis' tratiou would approach the 18,000 mark the largest in local .history, The books close tonight until after the election.. More than 1000 registration cards were received Monday, bringing the total well past the 17,000 mark. Included In the registrations are several hundred women voters, many of whom have not voted since 1816 the year they "were kept out of war' by the Democratic presidential nonv Inee, Many of the male voters have also been too busy to get to the polls for the same length of time, including one man who has not voted since 1892. The registration will exceed by about 5Q00 names the previous high marks. In 1S22, the year of Klan righteousness in Oregon politics, 13, 500 voters registered. The heaviest increase in registration has come from the country precincts-with the cities close behind. As usual, the bulk of the vote is in Medford and Ashland. The interest is regarded as healthy sign, and a 50 per cent vote is predicted fos the primary, which will mean close to 10,000 ballots will be oast. It also made many wish they had filed for office, and there Is talk of "independent" candidates filing for county places after the pri mary count is known. HUNT FOR BODIES vllTING WEATHER As soon as the weather settles in the mountains a coroner'a-sherlff possee will be organised for a search in the Dead Indian country for the Bodies of Edwin C, Brown and wife, homesteaders who lost their lives during a blizzard last January. The cost of the new search will be borne by the county and It will be sway from habitations. The Brown's re now thought to wandered far and fcs lie in a deep snow drift, in i&e jough and heavily timbered country. According to advices received by the sheriff's office, fresh snow fell in the Dead Indian country last night and today. TEACHER AND PUPILS TOGETHER AGAIN AS POLITICAL POT BOILS "We'll tell no tales out of school," pipe three candidates from this year's political pot A. J. Hanby, Edward C, Kelly and Frank Perl, And the last two named hope that Professor Hanby won't, or at least that he has forgotten. Not so many years ago the three, who met at a recent central Point meeting for candidates, met each morning to & much different rela tionship. Professor Hanby, who seeks the Republican nomination for coun ty school superintendent, was the teacher, Mr. Kelly, candidate for the Democratic nomination for state rep resentative, and Frank Perl, who seeks the Republican nomination for county coroner, the pupils. No mention was madt by Professor Hanby at the Central Point gather ing of the frequency with which his proteges decked the Medford dunce stools, long before political ambi tions surged through their vein. His former scholars were present, And it Is understood today that wherever Professor Hanby is invited to speak, there Kelly and Perl wiii be also. Pope Gets Ivory Madonna VATICAN CITY.
