Now at Holly Marion Nixon Stars In Craterian Drama The romantic and clever story of two young lovers who seek happiness but are always forced to, through one circumstance or another, put off their eventual bliss until later, is the theme of that excellent screen feature, "After Tomorrow," starring handsome Charlea Farrell and de mure Marian Nixon, which Is now showing at the Fox Craterian theatre. One of the distinctive features of this picture is the fact that it Is the first time that Farrell and Miss Nixon have co-starred together in the same picture. Of course, Farrell will be imme diately remembered as the "other half" of that famooua Farrell-Janet Gaynor team which provided so many magnificent successes of the past, In cluding "Street Angel," "Seventh Heaven," "Delicious" and many oth ers of note. Miss Nixon la herself a star of re nown. She has appeared in stellar roles In almost all of Hollywood's outstanding studios. 'After Tomorrow" is a delightful type of entertainment. Just senti mental enough to be highly likeable, and yet with a strong thread of ac tion all the way. Other players In this dandy picture Include William Collier Sr., Minna Gombell, Nora Lane and many others of note. A Charley Chase comedy hit Is in cluded as a special attraction on the program. OFFICIALS Opening an intensive campaign to end cruelties to dogs, perpetratted during the pa&t two years in the Spring street district and adjoining sections, Sheriff Ralph Jennings, County Judge C. B, Lamkln. Mrs. H. D. McCaskey and Mrs. Sidney Rich ardson, officers of the Jackson Coun ty Humane society, made a tour ot the vicinity yesterday questioning all neighbors of Charlea Roae, whose little wire-thai red terrier. Rough, Is receiving treatment for sulphuric sold burns inflicted last Saturday. An investigation of homes visited was made in an effort to apprehend the criminal. Sulphuric acid in di luted form was found at one place. The owner, however, assured the group of officers that Injuring a dog was the last thing he would consider doing. Neighbors visited were: L. T. Blah, D. M. Bates, Mrs. A. M. Roberta and Mrs. W. T. Bolger. Each promised to lend county officers and officials of the Humane society full co-operation in the campaign to discover the perpetrator of the fiendish crime During the past two years, Mra. Richardson stated, 14 dogs hnve been killed by poisoning in the locality neighboring Spring street, where the Rose family resides. Last summer a large pointer owned by Mrs, Rose was poisoned. All deaths have re sulted from very cruel forms of pois oning but the inhuman reatment of "Little Dog Rough," the Rose terrier, la classed as the worst form of tor ture brought to the attention of the Humane society since its organisation here. The tour yesterday afternoon be gan at the Humane society shelter, where officers examined the injured dog, and ended at the Rose home, where Mr. and Mrs. Rose and their four children were found eagerly hoping for the recovery of Rough. Dr. James F. Horr, veterinarian at the Humane society shelter, has as sured them he will see that the little dog is in no more pain. He fee la that he can save his life but will be unable to prevent serious scars.' The later, however, Mr. Rose said yester day, he will not object to. He has many himself and the little dog is sufficiently Intelligent to get along with them. Sheriff Jennings and the Humane society officials intend to carry the Investigation further and a large re ward, nearlng $1000, is offered for apprehension of the criminal.
