Visits at Crescent City Miss Leona White of Medford, daughter of John Wftlte of Harbor, Ore., arrived at Crescent City last week end for an extended visit at the home of Mrs. W. R. Vtemann. Guest of Relatives Mra. W. R. Pap worth of San Francisco la spending today with her mother, Mra. Margaret Germer and her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Germer. Mrs. Papworth arrived here by train yesterday. Special Legion Train One of the largest special train movements to the national legion convention has al ready been lined up. Dr. and Mrs. Slmklns motored to Grants Pass Thursday evening to the concert, and Glenn returned to Med ford with them. Attend Golden Wedding Mr. and Mrs.' Howard Boise have returned to their home In Medford, after attend lng the golden wedding anniversary of the formers parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. River Is Lowering The Rogue river Is gradually receding since the cessa tion of rain, and the past several chilly nights having halted the melt ing of snow In the high mountains. A week ago yesterday the river stood at its highest stage since the 1027 rise. To Hotel Meeting Mr. and Mrs. W. M Clemenson attended the meeting of the Southern Oregon Hotel asso ciation at Grants Pass last evening, which was conducted at the Red wods hotel. The mine is lo cated near Gold Hill and Is known as the Roaring Gimlet, says the Port land Journal in it "30 years ago" column. Rostel Off for Red Bluff Ernest Rostel, publicity man of the Crater National park staff left Saturday for Red Bluff, Cal, Where he will present the moving pictures of Crater park winter scenes at the meeting of the Shasta-Cascade Wonderland associa tion in that city tomorrow. Rlley-t Visit Here Pat Riley of Marshfleld arrived In Medford last night to Join -drs. Riley, who came here a few days ago from Los Ange les, and is guest of her father, Harry Von Der Hellen. The Klleys will con tinue to Marshfleld following a short stay here. Mrs. Riley Is remembered i as Theodosia Von Der Hellen. In Ban Francisco Miss Thelma Heard left by train Friday evening for San Francisco from Where she will return Monday. Guest of Son Mrs. J. W. Hauk of Los Angeles, arrived by train here yesterday to visit her son. A. J. Is Tennis Manager Mtss Vivian Cow of the University of Oregon, who is visiting her parents. Mr. and Mis. E. R. Com here this week, ha been re-appointed girls' tennis manager at the University of Oregon. She plans to carry on a series of tournaments at the opening of the spring term. Arrives Saturday Walter t. Van Nuya of Portland, representing the education department of the Pres byterian church, arrived here Satur day to conduct the Easter morning service at the First Presbyterian church, and also address the young people at the sunrise services Easter day. Tule Homesteads Approved Sixty- one Tulelake homesteads have been awarded as approved last fall. It has been announced by the United States reclamation service. The 61 veterans, of whom one Is Ray Coleman of Jacksonville, to whom they were awarded may now move onto the land. Brush Fire Alarms The black cloud of amoke seen over Black well hill Tuesday afternoon, and thought by many to be caused by the burning of a quantity of smudge oil, proved to be only a brush flr In the vicini ty of the Gold Ray dam. Smudge oil had been used to make the brush burn faster. Ariz, arrived In Medford by motor Thursday evening to visit his brother, Dr. J. P. Bray and family of Lolzer Lane. Mr. Bray plans to remain here during the spring and summer, and will accompany his brother on a number of fishing trips. Injures Knee Mrs. O. D. Wood of Ashland suffered an injured knee Thursday afternoon when the. car she was riding In was struck by Phil Stansbxiry's automobile, an ac cident report at the police station shows. Axel 8pjuth was driving the damaged car. The accident occurred at the corner of Riverside and Ninth streets. Leaves for Mnrhfleld--Mlss E. Marie Foss, instructor at the Valley school left yesterday for Marshfleld, where she will visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Foss, before continuing on to Portland. Miss Foss brother, A. L. Foss, mining engineer and geologist who has been stationed near Mos cow, Russia for the past two years, will also be in Marshfleld, with his wife and son. They hve been visit ing envoute to the coast from New York City.
