It reads like a story book of the
sweet era of rosemary and lace ker
chiefs, the romance ot Dr. W. H.
Heckman of this city and the former
Mrs. Emma Haas, which culminated
in their marriage at a three o'clock
service In Predonla. Pa., Tuesday. Oc
tober 13. The bride and groom ar
rived In Medford on the Shasta this
morning to make their home on
Corning Court.
Doctor and Mrs. Heckman were
school mates together back In Green
ville. Pa., 45 yeara ago. They were
sweethearts for four years and then
the romance was broken. They went
different ways. Each married and
reared a family. Dr. Heckman came
to southern Oregon. Mrs. Haas re
mained In Pennsylvania. Then death
came along to rob them of their
happiness.
Finding his surroundings here al
together too lonely. Dr. Heckman last
September returned to Pennsylvania
to visit his old home. He met Emma
Haas again; She was lonely too. The
tomance developed and continued
through letters from Pennsylvania
and Oregon. About a month ago Dr.
Heckman returned to the eastern
state to marry his boyhood sweet
heart. They made the return trip to Ore
gon via the southern route visiting
in Chattanooga, Los Angeles and
CatrJlna Islands and are as happy as
when they were In their 'teens back
In Greenville, Pa, they told friends,
who greeted them at the station this
morning.
