Miss Edwards Is Lovely Bride At Church Ceremony At a beautiful 3:00 o'clock serv ice read by Rev. C. B. Porter at the First Tresbyterlan church yesterday afternoon, Miss Mary Edwards, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Ed wards, was married to Chester Hub bard, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. O Hubbard, Preceded by her maid of honor, Miss Georgia Edwards, and bride's maids, Misses Viola Templeton and Katherlne Sweeney, the bride, love ly In a long gown of Ivory satin, created on Empress Eugenie lines, with slight train, and wearing a long veil, molded Into cap shape with orange blossoms, entered the church on tha arm of her father. She was met at the altar by the groom and his attendant, Jasper Reynolds. The bride carried a shower bou quet of white roses and other blos soms. The maid of honor was at tired In blue satin, also cut on Em press Eugenie lines, with small puff sleeves, and wore a turban of blue velvet. Miss Templeton and Miss Sweeney wore similar gowns and tur ' bans in pale green and shell pink, respectively. Lewis Balnea and Warren Hamlin acted as ushers. Preceding the ceremony Miss EUow Mae Wilson played a violin number and sang "Still Is the Night," by Bohm, accompanied at the organ by Miss Dorothy Reynolds, who. also played Mendelssohn's wedding march for entrance of the bridal party. Following the wedding a reception was held at the Edwards home, where fifty guests were received by Mrs. Edwards, who wore a gown of black satin. She was assisted by Mrs. Hubbard, mother of the groom, who was attired In black lace, and Miss Icel Edwards, here from Seattle for her sister's wedding. Miss Louise Fluhrer and Mrs. W 11 lard Whitman poured. The bride and groom left Immed iately for a motor trip, Mrs. Hub bard wearing for going away cos tume, a brown suit, fur trimmed, with all accessories In harmonizing tones of the same color. Both young people are popular members of the local society set and former students at Oregon State college, where Mrs. Hubbard was a member of Alpha Chi Omega soror ity and Mr. Hubbard affiliated with Sigma Nu. They will be at home to their friends at the end of two weeks at the Flnley apartments. Miss Norris, Bride Elect, Honor Guest At Pretty Shower 7 - Mrs. Wllford Jeter and Mrs. Harry Rlnabarger were hostesses on Friday evening at a bridal shower honoring their sister. Miss Lois Norris. Before the gifts were presented the honor guest a mock wedding was staged with Mrs. Newton Mead as bride, Mrs. Alfred Anderson, groom, and Mrs. W. H. Eaton, minister. Little Misses Elaine Winkle as cupld and Louise Lawrence, dressed In dainty pink, appeared with the shower of gifts in a basket, beauti fully decorated in pink and blue. Refreshments were served by the hostesses, assisted by Mrs. Lester Lawrence and Mrs. James H. Dally. Those present were Mesdames W. H. Eaton, Elmer Wilson, Newton Mead, Alfred Anderson, Milton Coe, M. L. Dally, Orvllle Childreth, Ernest Win kle, Lester Lawrence , and James Dally. Willett Pupils in Pecital on Monday The first of a series of monthly recitals planned for her Grants Pass and Medford pupils has been an nounced by Rosa Blackmore Willett for Monday evening at 8 o'clock in her studio In the Masonic Temple building. An invitation Is extended all persons interested In the study of piano. Pupils to be presented are: Kath leen Bratten, Alice Chandler, Zella Mae Grant, Frederick Guetzlaff, Mrs. Lydla Guetzlaff, Georglanna Hussong Jean Leverette, Moneta Meikle, Lois Nichols, Betty Anne Thorndlke. Mrs. Ream es Invites Guild to Her Home Mrs. Charles Reames will be hostess to the Crater Lake Guild at her home, 24 Geneva, Monday evening, Oct. 19th. She will be assisted by Mrs. F. G. Bunch, Miss Margaret Kerr and Miss Winifred Andrews. On the evening's program will be Miss Louise Hollenback, who will give the Introductory talk on the year's study, -Paintings of the Old Masters." 'Oregon Dinner Is Plan for Tuesday; Crowd Anticipated Tuesday evening Dr. Arnold Ben nett Hall, president of the University of Oregon and his party, making a tour of the state, will be feted at dinner at the Hotel Medford. Dinner will be followed by meet ings for mothers and fathers of unl I verslty students. A special Invitation to both dinner and meetings Is ex- j tended parents of freshmen. Dr. Hall I Is particularly anxious to meet them. I Alumni of the university and all persons Interested In the school are also invited to the dinner. O. Tollefson enter tained Monday evening with three tables of bridge at their home. Prizes for higfc scores were won by Mrs. H. A. DuBuque and Harry Prentice. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. DuBuque, Mr. and Mrs. Prentice, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Blerma, Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Larlson, Dr. and Mrs. D. W. Stone and Mr. and Mrs. Tollefson. Bridge Supper At DuBuque Home Is Pleasant Affair Mr. and Mrs. Horry A. DuBuque were hosts Wednesday evening at a 7 o'clock bridge supper for 20 friends. High score for women was held by Mrs. C. O. Larlson. who also received Fthe traveling prize. Ernest Scott held high score for men. The two low scores were held by Dr. F. G. Bunch and Mrs. Ralph Jennings. Dr. D. W. Stone won the traveling prize I for men. Degree of Honor II ears Program The Degree of Honor Protective as sociation met last Tuesday evening. After the business session the follow ing program was given: vocal soio, Ed Andrews, accom panied by Mrs. Andrews. Accordion solo, Mrs. Harry Prentice, accompan ied by Miss Dorothy Reynolds. Vocal solo. Mr. Fred Sautter, ac companied by Lewis Parker. Refreshments were served, follow ed by an enjoyable evening of dancing. Organ Concert At Church Enjoyed By 200 Music Lovers The organ program sponsored by the Thursday Morning Muslcale, held In the Presbyterian church Thursday morning, was attended by over one hundred appreciative guests who lis tened with rapt attention to the fol lowing beautiful and well balanced program: The Gothic Suite Wldor Canyon Walls Joseph Clokey Echo Pietro Yon Robert Gould At An Old Trysting Place Edward MacDowell To a Wild Rose Edward MacDowell Miss Dorothy Reynolds Poet and Peasant Van Suppe Meditation, from Thais Massenet Semlramlde ' Rossini Intermezzo from Cavailerla Rusti- cana Moscagni Sebastian Apollo Mr, Gould's first number was Gothic In structure, full of distance yet harmonious throughout. The Canyon Walls gave a picture of the vast walls and coloring of a canyon and Echo was a true depiction of lis name. Miss Reynolds' MacDowell numbers were so sweet and lovely as only MacDowell can be, making a beauti ful Interlude between the heavier numbers. In Mr. Apollo's selection the Medi tation from Thais brought out the solo organ In a beautiful manner. The Poet and Peasant, The Intermez zo from Cavaleria Rusttcana and Semlramlde were his heaviest num bers in which he displayed excep tional ability In his foot work. Medford Is Indeed fortunate to have such talented musicians in her midst and the Thursday Morning Muslcale members wish to express their appreciation to these artists and hope to have more guest days throughout the year. Bridge Shower for Mrs. Porter Large Event of Thursday Mrs. Walker, Song Leader, to Attend B.P.W. Convention The Medford Business & Profes sional Women's club will be the hos tess club at the Southern Oregon District meeting of the Oregon Federation of B. & P. W. clubs on Sunday. October 25th, and mem bers are looking forward with a great deal of pleasure to the spontaneous and delightful lead ership ol Mrs. Mae Ross Walk er who Is state song leader of the federa 1 1 o n. Mrs. Walker will Sunday morning arrive In Medford and will lead all the group singing at the conference. That Is quite some Job, because all the members like to sing, and particularly when Mrs. Walker leads. Mn. Walker Is at present promot ing a light opera association in Port- laud and is meeting with much suc cess. She has been prominent in musical circles In Portland for sev eral years past. Jolly Event Given For Edward Young On Ninth Birthday 1 Mrs. R. Harrison Young entertain ed yesterday afternoon with a partj complimenting her son, Edward, on his ninth birthday anniversary. Twelve guests enjoyed the afternoon Hallowe'en decorations gave a fes tive appearance to the rooms and the table, where refreshments were served following games. A Jack-o-lantern formed the centerpiece, mounted on a mirror Into which It cast a flicker ing reflection. Musician Leaves For Eastern School Mrs. Earl Schneider of Seattle, ana her daughter Miss Beverley, spent several days In Jacksonville last week as the guests of Mrs. Schneider's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Puhl. Mrs. Schneider and Beverly left Sunday by motor for Philadelphia where the latter will enter the Curtis school of music. Miss Beverly, who is eleven years old, is a talented violinist. The sohool will open October 38, and they will I remain In the eastern city until spring. Egans Entertain At Dinner, Cards Saturday Evening Mr. and Mrs. H. Chandler Egan en tertained last evening at dinner, fol lowing which duplicate contract bridge was in play. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Don Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Robt. W. Ruhl, Mr, and Mrs. F. Burgess for the past two weeks, left yesterday on the Shasta for their home In Boston, Mass. Mrs. Knapp Arrives Here to Make Home Society Is welcoming this weak, Mrs. Edwin L. Knapp, who arrived Friday from Eugene to Join Mr. Knapp in making their home at 38 Geneva street. Mrs. Knapp played a prominent part in the social and club activities of the university city and was much feted before leaving to make her home here. Building Bridge Club Meets Brown Home Mrs. Sid Brown was hostess Thurs day afternoon to members of the Building Bridge club at her home. There were four tables In play and cards were followed by refreshments. Mrs. Brown was assisted by her daughter In serving. Guests Here of Mr. and Mrs. N'oyes Mr. and Mrs. Dean Witter of San Francisco arrived In Medford from the north Saturday morning by train to be the guests on Rogue river of Mr. and Mrs. Frank O. A lovely event of the week was the bridge shower given Thursday after noon by Mrs. Homer Marx and Mrs Frank Perl for Mrs. Jack Porter, at the home of Mrs. John Perl. The rooms were gay with autum nal flowers of many colors for the occasion and there were eight tables of bridge in play. Prizes for high scores were awarded Mrs. Ben Trow bridge and Mrs. Ted Leonard. A guest prize went to Mrs. Porter, who sIbo received many lovely gifts fron those in attendance.
