He plans to spend several days here on a visit, and will also make a short hunting trip with Mr. Hampson. Struck by Auto A report was filed at the city police department late yesterday afternoon, stating thatW. O. Pollard was the driver of an automo bile which struck Robert Jones, knocking him to the pavement. The accident happened on North Bartlett street. On Annual Trip A. W. Mlddleton of San Francisco arrived In the city today to start on his annual hunting trip. He will be the guest of his boyhood friend, H. L.. Nobllt, while here. Selection of a Jury In circuit court to heat the damage action ot Mrs. Nettle Marco against Dr. B. O. Wil son, county physician and O. W. (Ike) Dunford, county jailer, began this afternoon before Circuit Judge J. T. Brand of Marsh Held, the young est Jurist In the state. Mrs. Marco, an aged woman and recipient of county aid because of Ills, asks $13,000 damages for alleged mistreatment. She alleges that she was manhandled, thrown In Jail and detained and thrown to the pave ment last November. The defendants assert that Mrs. Marco, because of a disturbance at Sacred Heart hospital, was removed to the county courthouse, at the request ot hospital authorities, and that after an effort to locate ner husband was placed In the women's ward of the county Jail, as a matter of common courtesy. When her hus band arrived next morning, the de fendants say, Mrs. Marco thanked them for their treatment ot her. Following the Marco case, w.hlch will take at- least a day, the suit of Boy O. Patch against the Pacific Theaters (Holly) Inc., for $50,000 damages, will be started. Patch, former movie operator at the Holly, alleges that through negligence his eyes were Injured. FRIDAY IS WORD It was learned today that the Crater National park headquarters offices and personnel would be moved down next Friday to their winter headquarters In the federal building In Medford and also that there were over 800 visitors to see Crater lake last Sunday. The labor force at the park has been gradually decreased for the past week or so until there are only about 25 or 30 laborers left, and with Superintendent Sollnsky and tha headquarters staff moving down to the city Friday, only a few la borers will be retained and two or three rangers, as the scheduled park Improvement work for this year Is hntit ramnleted. and anv time now heavy snow and stormy weather la anticipated to set in. Of course, the rim road contractor will have his remaining force at work as long as the weather permits, but has gradually been diminishing his large force for the past two until nnlv a eomnsratlve few are left enough to msn the steam shovels and carry on the work. SHFR'FF UPTURNS CLASSES ELECT SOUTHERN OREGON STATE NORMAL SCHOOL, Oct. 14. (Spl.) Junior and senior class officers were elected at a meeting of the two groups at the Southern Oregon Nor mal School Tuesday afternoon. Alan Youngmayr of North Bend was chosen to head the senior group for the coming year. Maxwell Marvin of Gold Hill was elected vice -president Miss Eleanor Metcalf of Klam ath Falls will handle the finances for the organization and Mrs, Flor ence Hunsaker will act as secretary Walter Redford was selected as class adviser. Ira Scott of Albany was elected president of the Junior class for the year. Other Juniors elected are: Frank Hall, Klamath Falls; vice president; Florence Hicks, La Grande, secretary-treasurer. Wayne W. Wells will be class adviser. . The organization meeting will be held October 19. Sheriff Ralph Jennings returned home yesterday with Raymond Baker, from a five days' deer hunt In Late county, and when asked concerning bis success, stated that the empha sis should go on the "bunt." Although the two men could not find any bucks, the sheriff shot down a coyote. He took great pains to skin the animal, and take the hide Into the courthouse to obtain a bounty. Upon reaching the office, however, he discovered that Lake county did not have a bounty on coyotes, so his work was all In vain.
