S George Washington Bi centennial commission iu created by a Joint resolution of congress, approved December X 1934. to tudy and recommend a proper celebration In 1833 of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Oeorge Washington. JU planned, the celebration U to be la exact keeping with the motive expressed by congress, to begin Feb ruary 33 and continue to Thank' giving day, November 34, 1083. The theme or purpose la thus expressed "W cannot all be Waahlngtona, but our country will be Immeasurably elevated and improved by having It citizens carry in their minds and hearts such a knowledge and appro elation of him that their datly Uvea will be actuated by his example. In keeping with the desire of con gress, the United States commission urges the appointment of state com- missions and municipal and society committees to carry out local pro grama for the nine montha' celebra tion. Rev. O. B. Porter and other local cities na have given the matter thoughtful consideration and believe committee' organisation and other preliminary work ahould not be de layed. To this end the following persona have been suggested, and are now confirmed by mt, as the Medford City Bicentennial commit tee, to be responsible for the befit ting observance of this anniversary of our first preeldent'e birth. Clark, who recently secured control of the Braden mine In the Oold Hill district appeared before the county court this morning, and asked that steps be taken to secure the right to use a road leading to the mine, through the Ray proper ties, which is the sole means of com munication.
