There was no change In local values for the day. ' In the live chicken market all prices are being well held at the re cent extreme mark. Demand Is best for light and medium hens as well as broilers while the call for heavy hens Is fairly well taken care of. First carload of Delicious apples apples of the season were reported, The Initial supply came out of the Monroe district. Prioed 3-S for ex tra fancy, S3 for fancy and 1.S5 for C grade, well shaped and colored. Practically no changes were shown In prices or conditions In the market for county killed meats during the day. Veal of quality Is firm with bogs firm and lambs strong at run prices. .' It was one of the sharpest breaks since early June. Although weak during the morning and early afternoon, the market turned dull In the afternoon when prices steadied momentarily, only to break severely at the finish. One of the late features was a 30,000 share rale of General Motors at 830, off (2.13. Ralls were particularly weak. Belling . of stocks was accompanied by sharp declines In- foreign bonds, particularly Germans, and also by weakness of Canadian and British ex change. Postmaster Warner received his notice of that kind today. It la understood that two Medford busi ness concerns have been violating this law for some time past, by dis tributing In the mall boxes through out the rural' sections loose circu lars. , Under the orders from the post master general Just received for local postmasters to bear down In enforcing this law. it is stipulated thst the rural or city carrier, on finding such circular In mall boxes along his route, ahall report back to the postofrtco with them and col lect postage from the offending firm at the rate of 114 cents for each circular, the latter being third-class mall matter. In case a firm should refuse to pay postage to the carrier the mat ter will then be referred to the postofflee department at Washing ton for further method of procedure against the firm.
